Focal Chorus 8xx vs Monitor Audio RX

Hi,

I am planning on updating my ht system, so, decisions decisions..
Considering they will mostly be used for Cinema rather than music, what do you recommend?
I will make demo rounds from both brands and decide mostly accordingly, however some expert or educated opinions wont hurt.

Focal:
826V Front + 816V Back + CC800 Center + SW800 Sub.
or
Monitor Audio:
RX8 Front + RX6 Back + RX Center + RS W 12 Sub.

Will these sets do well for cinema experience, or should i look something with a THX cert. like Klipsch Ultra 2, which is almost twice as expensive than MA, or the THX wont matter "that" much?

As a receiver, i am planning on getting a Marantz 7005, or maybe, if there is a definite "no, no!!" comment from you for marantz, Onkyo 808, + it has THX which marantz do not..

My room is almost 5000fc, but sadly L shaped with a large opening on one side for other rooms and stairs to 2nd floor.

Thanx for the input..

Well, I get Pinocchio in my pants when I listen to Focal products. MA is OK. As for recievers, also look to the Pioneer Elite VSX-32. Don't worry about THX certification. Although the Pio has it.
Go listen to both and choose the one you like best.
Good luck!

Also, none of those subs go really deep. Check out Rythmik or Epik. Maybe even Hsu. And you might want to go with the smaller towers of the brand you pick because you will have the sub doing the dirty work below 60-80 Hz. The money you will save on this can go for a second sub. Which you might need in that room due to size.

Did you go have a listen yet?

I listened both and decided to go for Focals and bought them.
But still trying to choose a TV+Projector combo to start a little build at my cave..

The setup is:
836V Front
816V Back
CC800 Center
SW800 Sub.

and marantz SR7005 as receiver.

Are you happy with that setup performance? Im looking on Chorus 5.1 setup, 836v on fronts, CC800 and the only difference are the surround speakers, I'll go with the SR 800 V.

Im still debating on amp, on Elite SC-37, Denon AVR-4311 and Marantz SR7005. I like Ice Power amps on Pio, but heard this one may not pair very well with this speakers, becouse its bright nature. So Im leaning towards Marantz SR7005. Denon is well known as an amp which rocks on home theater setups.

I'll use the most for 80% Movies/games 20% Music. How good performs that setup for HT/games, and music?

The panny AE4000 is a great projector that can be had for around 2K.

How loud do you listen to stuff? The Denon 4311 or the Marantz should do OK but, if you want reference level (loud) dBs, you might want to consider separates. Or run external amps on those recievers.

The Focal is neutral sounding and is good for all types of programs. Any
of those receivers will be fine.

I would take the Focals over the Monitor Audio's in any application...for music, movies, elevator background noise, auctioneer's pa system, paperweight, firewood, etc...

Do not care for MA's at all.

MAs aren't that bad. I finally got a chance to listen to the Silver line. Nice stuff!

The MA RX-8 are considered one of the best speakers in its class for years. It does alot quite good for the price.I have compared them to many others and find them very open and livily.Great for Rock and Pop.I also love the Focal line. Both are great and anyone here who would put down either has never heard both.Lots of trolls here so take the advice here with a grain of salt.
