Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems there is, perhaps, some of the "old bad blood" that is part of the problem here. Your comments regarding design and theory are not "wrong", I just think they're inappropriately placed at times. My impression is you have a bone to pick and you go sniping into threads with seemingly innocuous comments that are really designed to undermine Craig. If I'm wrong about that, then tell me so we can move on. But if it is true at least be honest about it. There are appropriate threads for certain comments and discussions and a true comment at the wrong time and place can be misinterpreted. Which is what I think has happened between us on some occasions.
And BTW, Merry Christmas
Its all cool with me, I never take any thing past the computer screen and this stuff is really tame. I grew up in the hockey world, best friends would bloody themselves in a fight and have a beer later.
Im not sure where techinical discussions should happen though.
I guess I think of AVS as an audio science forum and any thread should have some science involved with the discussion.
Im pretty balanced in all discussions.
1. I have posted many times that Maggies are not good HT choices.
2. I have posted many times that generally < 90dB speakers are not the right design for HT if the listening distance is over X feet.
3. I have posted about ported and sealed designs in threads that had nothing to do with CHT. I posted explaining the ULS-15 flat to 10Hz is misleading, I posted that the VTF-15 is still a ported sub with its inherent compromises.
CHT is not the only company that has discussions. Im posting the same info on other designs.
Owners of any of these speakers do seem to get emotional over any post they think is negative. Its hard to explain that a compromise in any design does not make that design complete crap. We have to realize that ALL speakers and subs will have compromises and its up to use to figure them out and minimize them.
What is missed here is that I have posted more then once that the CHT pro speakers are a good HT choice for their price tag. Everyone seems to attack me still even when I say they are one of the only choices that does dynamics and has controlled directivity.
I do apologize that I enjoy technical discussions too much.
