I have a Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma television. Older model, before they started branding it KURO.
I am looking to get a Denon AVR-1611 receiver and would like to run all of my gear into the receiver, and output to the plasma.
This would normally be pretty straightforward. The catch is, I'm one of three people in the world that is using the CableCARD input on my plasma to receive my cable.
The problem is, I don't think this particular plasma supports Audio Return Channel even though my HDMI cables and receiver support it. So, to my knowledge the second best option is TOSLink (digital optical output) cable on my plasma. The Denon does have an input for TOSLink.
Do I lose anything by using TOSLink rather than HDMI return channel? Are there any concerns I should have in using this type of setup, particularly if I'm using different inputs like a PS3?
