Please help with setup using def tech bipolars

Hello, I hope this is the right forum to ask my questions related to setting up a 5.1 system using Def Techs. Here is my configuration:

Onkyo TX-NR3008 receiver
DT BP7002 L/R with built in 12" subwoofer powered by 300W amplifier
DT C/L/R 2300 center with 8" subwoofer powered by 150W amplifier (unfortunately I had to compromise on this - these have 2 4.5" midrange drivers whereas every other speaker has 5.25" drivers. The next higher model CLR2500 with 5.25" drivers is nowhere to be found at a reasonable cost).
DT BP2x as surrounds

Room details:

Width 12' X 20'L X 9'H (with the front of the system along the width)
Distance between listening position and the center speaker 13.5'
Wood (oak) floors over a finished crawl basement

Primary use: Home theater but I do listen to lots and lots of music. So that cannot be ignored.

Here are my questions (I know I can try all this and figure out what sounds best to my ear but I would like to start with what are best practices as my base configuration and then start tweaking; plus I still have to order the AV console and Q1 relates to that):

(1) I am shopping for an AV console and the main constraint here is something that can accommodate the CLR2300 (DWH 12" x 21" x 5.8"). The only ones that I found and that I liked would put the midpoint of this speaker about 19" from the floor whereas my ear height in the listening position is going to be about 35". Is this a deal breaker? I could possibly put the center on the top of the console and get the midpoint of the center to be at 30". Would this be so much better to above that I go through the trouble of hanging the TV on the wall, fishing the cables for it, installing new HDMI and power outlets, and have a fight with my wife over it :-(

(2) The target AV consoles are hardwood and weigh about 150lbs plus. Add to that about another 100lbs plus for other components. Do I need to put blue tack under my center to isolate it acoustically from the console? How about just a non-kid liner that you get at Walmart to put on shelves?

(3) Re: BP2x - as these are bipolar speakers would they be better as side surrounds as opposed to rear surrounds? And as side surrounds, directly facing my ears or slightly offset at an angle towards to rear? Is side surround sound better bang for the buck then rear surrounds?

(4) For the rear surrounds, would I be better going with direct radiating DT speakers that are timbre matched to the rest of the setup?

(4) For fronts BP7002 (~70lbs) resting on a wooden floor with a finished crawl basement under it, do I need to put blue tack or some such thing to acoustically isolate them from the wood floor? Such as the non-skid liner? Also, are bipolars put straight or at an angle towards the listener as is customary.

Thanks in advance!

I have similar DTs connected to a somewhat similar Denon.
You can probably get away with the lower-than-optimal
mounting of the center channel by tipping it towards your listening height.
Timber-matching rears is a non-issue, particularly once you have let Audyssey do its thing.
With tall speakers, the real concern is low frequencies causing the tops to move
resulting in Doppler distortion of output from upper speakers.

Get the center higher. I have my clr3000 placed on a 24" cabinet, but i have a projector just projecting onto a white wall so I didn't have to worry about a tv, etc. I really really want the center behind a screen one day . It just really depends how much you willing to give up for the best possible sounding system.

Bp2x are perfect for side surrounds. I would use direct for rear.

Angle the mains to the center some for sure. This will help with music listening and imaging.

I don't think you really need anything to isolate the center, but I use a runner down the console to protect it from scratches etc.

Mains could use some form of isolation. I wouldn't go to crazy with it though.

Sounds like you may get a lot of reflections in your room, might want to invest in some room treatments.

Thanks to all those replied - much appreciated.

BTW, what makes you think I might get lot of reflections in the room? What am I missing?

You said you had a wood floor, and I'm assuming your walls and ceiling are made of something hard as well. That reflects. Put down a rug (the thicker the better) and sound absorption at the reflection points on the walls and ceiling and you'll see a dramatic improvement.

Yup, the room has a rug for better part of the floor. Now a naive question - how does one locate reflections points on the walls and the ceiling :-)
