Yamaha RX-V459 and DTS-HD audio question?

Howdy,
I recently got a brand new Flat screen plasma which replaced my old 86cm sony crt.
Anyway, my amp which is a yamaha rx-v459 receiver only has component inputs and outputs.
For blu ray goodness, i'm using my PS3, which is connected to the TV via HDMI, and the audio is connected to the amp via optical out.
I have set the audio output in the PS3 as optical out and not HDMI. I have checked that.

For dvds and the like I seem to be getting surround sound no worries but when playing blu rays I'm only getting stereo sound for some reason?
The amp appears to be only outputting to 2 speakers?

I don't believe the amp has DTS-HD decoding capabilities, but it should be able to recognise the DTS audio stream without a hitch?
As I understand, DTS-HD has a standart DTS stream hidden inside it, so the amp should recognize that and output DTS audio, but its not doing that at all as far as I can tell.

This is annoying me, can anyone shed any light on the situation?

Yep, and it's better than DVD DTS, which is usually half the rate of that 1.5 Mbs standard of Blu-ray.
