Oportunity lost to put some fear and trepidation into the alien agressor force. Introduction of the little spiders is useless and presents an element that, quite frankly, can overrun the 2nd in any open situation where there are not fire doors easily shut to keep them out. Anyplace with ceiling tiles and its game over.

I agree with your post. The little spiders reminded me of Lost in Space the movie, obviously it did the same for the writers. rolleyes.gif I was wondering out loud as to what happened to all of the special armor piercing ammo they had made? One shot to the Mech and the Aliens would be off guard, and also shoot the girl the minute she opens her mouth. The minute that's done the overlords would have to wonder if they killed her and the Mech, they will stop at nothing to kill us. They already knew from the Overlord that they were afraid. This is supposed to be a War with a command structure isn't it? Whatever happened to "boobytraps"? Dig a whole and trap a couple of them. Are the Aliens are afraid of water? Has that been brought up yet?

I think they should all be wiped out by the common cold.

The replicators were just too much for me, what's next the Asgard? Whee did they come from? Did they transport in? They got that pretty fast.

Why do they keep killing of semi interesting characters? There is no reason a red shirt could not have been the victim. At this point if they are 500 miles out why not send out a fast moving scouting party to determine if they should go to Charlton? Would that not make strategic sense? But then when did the writers ever really think as they wrote this show.

Yup, just flying on a wing and a prayer to Charlotte. I also believe they mentioned Charlotte in front of the overlord. No issue there. eek.gif

Jamil must have wanted more money for next season tongue.gif Well, we get to see a story arc of Lourdes not giving a damn and then caring and then sacrificing herself. Less recurring characters, less overhead.

Most people think water conducts electricity too... which of course it doesn't... but I've learned to keep my mouth shut about such things most of the time.

I had to back up and watch that scene again... because it felt like we missed something over the commercial break. Before commercial, Jamil is going to look for the Doctor & company... after the commercial he is screaming on the floor and looks like he had the crap beaten out of him... until we see the things crawl out.

So... "wha hoppen" between those two scenes?

I noticede that same discontinuity, and went back to see if I had skipped something - no. My guess is the scene with him getting attacked by little spiders was not convincing or scary, and got cut. I thought showing him cut and bleeding was effective.

He got attacked in the stairwell. We know that he was going down the stairwell to look for the them. They just didn't show the attack.

Beeman's blog mentions that they were way over budget for the episode and had to make hard choices about what scenes not to do. Presumably the attack was one of them.

I like epi a whole lot more than the last one, it was good with a few issues here and there but it was a fun watch. So next epi is in two weeks?

Glad they shoot that fish head, just a little over confident biggrin.gif

Yup -- next new episode. Next week is a Falling Skies marathon starting at 2PM.

Yes 100.000000% Pure water does *not* conduct electricity. Unfortunately for many electrocution victims, 100% pure water doesn't really exist in nature. smile.gif

You don't want to be using an uninsulated power drill/sander while standing on wet ground/grass ... you might just get a nasty surprise.

That was my question.

As soon as she poked her head out on the road, a sniper should have sent a bullet through her brain.
A couple of thoughts. When they were first in battle, while rescueing Ben, how come nobody thought about shooting at the fish head? There were so many bullets being shot but none in the direction of this 8-9 foot tall, not moving, target. He is obviously the leader and when in battle take out the leadership and your battle becomes much easier. Second, Ben informs his dad that the overlord was in his head trying to take control and the dad instructs Ben to keep his distance when he was on his way to talk to the fish head. Then later Tom is rushing to see the fish head and Ben just follows him into the cell. WTF.

How can something from last season's episodes be a spoiler?

A rerun of this season's ep 7 will be at 10am, and Contact from 11am -2pm

Then this season's episodes 1-4 from 2-6pm, Independence Day from 6-9, then episodes 5-7 from 9-midnight, then ID4 again. See http://www.tntdrama.com/schedule/?startDate=7/29/2012&timeZone=

Great episode. Not only am I glad he shot fish head commander it is good to see a single bullet can do so much damage. They are highly vulnerable.

So what is everyone's bet on what they find at Charleston? I vote for a detroyed settlement that got bombed/destroyed recently.

You're welcome. Of course those times are for Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Your local time might be different.

well given the discontinuity of the plot line, there is really no point backing up and re-watching this garbled mishmash.

i'm at the point when something happens, i'm just whatever.

still trying to understand why i'm still watching this.

It was a great episode .. my take on Charleston (if they actually get there .. I mean, are there not major rivers that would need to be crossed /etc ...) .. the budget is not going to allow for some big set with hundreds of extras and what not .. so, maybe something like what we saw in Walking Dead when they got to the CDC in Atlanta .. a few lone holdouts ..

According to the plot synopses already published by TNT, they'll be meeting up with another militia group, apparently from the Boston area (Tom meets his mentor is one of the tidbits mentioned). Whether that happens in Charleston or not hasn't been revealed. My guess is that it happens just before they get there, leaving the status of Charleston as a cliffhanger.

I get your point, but I doubt anyone on this board will adhere to your point of view.

The point is that it's not a spoiler in any thread when it's talking about something from last season.

Now that is a spoiler. Just because it is written somewhere doesn't leave it open for discussion before the episode has aired....

Yup .. general rules are anything that's aired is fair game and no considered a spoiler .. that's why I never read posts until I have watched the episode ..

That's ultimately what I assumed had happened... but when you watch it, it sure feels like you missed something important. One minute off to the rescue, minutes later bloody and about to die.

That makes sense... but if I were there, I would argue that if the outright attack was too expensive, they needed a better segue. Plus, they surely did show us other scenes of those crawlies... Heck, some creative editing might have been able to move part of one of those scenes a little earlier to explain what happened without actually having to show him being attacked.

I'm ok with not showing everything... but when a character exits one scene healthy and on the move, then the next scene we have him rolling around in agony... that's too big of a gap in the story. They needed to show us something in between... even without CGI... heck, even just showing him rounding a corner and suddenly looking scared and letting us hear a noise... that would have been a clue that something attacked him.

The way it plays... heck, Pope could have went rogue and beat the crap out of him out of sight of the others... Obviously he didn't... but you can infer lots of stuff when they cut a big connecting scene.

True... but then there would be enough combustibles in the air much of the time such that opening an oxygen tank would work as a flamethrower... even though technically speaking that's not the way it should work. Most people think oxygen burns, and water conduct electricity.. which in both cases leads them not to understand where the real danger is. You could operate that drill, for example, if you were standing in a pool of distilled pure water smile.gif And in alien world... there might be an instance where you could use that to your advantage against others who didn't understand how electricity works.

Sorry, but it is - for someone not currently watching the series. Some people catch series on video well after a season airs.

The idea is, you can avoid spoilers by avoiding the thread. Having them pop up in other threads where you don't expect them is still a spoiler.
