'Falling Skies' on TNT HD - Page 52

Trailer looks good....I'd totally forgotten about the show coming back.

Alien sex? Oh please, no alien hybrid babies. Or babies of any kind for that matter.

I'm already anticipating that the cliffhanger to an episode is going to be a pregnancy reveal. With a rapidly growing and glowing fetus.

Agreed. Please TNT, no alien/human hybrid spawn - the most overused, trite sci-fi trope there is. We can do better than that, can't we?

I'm excited. I know the show has its problems, but it's better than most the crap on TV wink.gif

It has a lot of flaws, but it's better than most of what Siffy puts out.

Let the fun begin .. smile.gif

Already? We haven't even started watching Season 2 yet! Guess we got some work to do around here!

Have you seen what passes for science fiction these days? frown.gif

My thought in the spoiler involves a massive miscommunication that results in war... the war then became real, but that doesn't mean it was intended from the start.

Bump to remind Sunday 3rd season starts .. and it's a two parter, so you may want to double check your DVR programming to make sure you get both ..
Made sure I got them. Thanks
Didn't realize it was 2 parter. Thanks! smile.gif

Hope they have the budget allocated to show all the aliens the trailers are promising, If skitters are on their side now they are going to be appearing far more regularly.

Two episodes air on the first night of season three.... only leaves eight more for the rest of the season!

Only 10 episodes? what happened with those 13 episode cable series standard? (I guess they are now taking the GoT model)
That might be the budget issue I referred to above. VFXproducer mentioned some behind the scenes shuffling too. It appears TNT are cutting back for one reason or another.

Every season of Falling Skies has had 10 episodes.

Which is why I'm surprised they're burning off 2 episodes on the opening night?

You are correct!
They did that for season one and season two openers.
It's just that when you burn 20% of your product in one day- that doesn't leave much to spread around for the other 364 days of the year.

Meh. I'm impatient. I wish they'd show the whole season in one night! wink.gif

I'm fine with that as well .. biggrin.gif

To be honest... I like the 2-fer... I would vote to close the season with a 2-fer as well... then the whole "season" could be shown over 8 consecutive weeks (although they might skip July 4th weekend).

I'm also ok with 10 episodes if it means they get to make the show they want in those 10 episodes. I would rather them make 10 that they feel strongly about, than make 13 that includes some filler to pad it out.

I'd prefer it if they had one episode each weekday for two weeks. It would do wonders for the storytelling and I miss the old big mini-series events.

Of course this is premiering against the GoT finale, so no matter what TNT did there is no way Falling Skies would get priority viewing for me this weekend. Not after last week's episode of Thrones.

And multiple show times on TNT!

So this season kicks off seven months after the major cliffhanger of last season?

That sounds like the same lame narrative mistake that damaged Heroes season two.

Funny. 'Mad Men' has won multiple Emmy's with that kind of "lame narrative mistake". They make it every season. BSG once jumped a year ahead between seasons. Nearly every long-running serialized drama has done it; the list is long, and storied.

It's one thing for a kitchen sink drama to do it - "I'm pregnant!” - or a workplace drama - ”You're fired!" - but when you have a genre story pulling the same stunt, especially when it's a pivotal moment that is literally in the middle of a scene, you get a break in continuity that is just lazy. It leaves the audience feeling cheated even if the story casually drip feeds previous events.

Last season ended with first contact with an alien race. If the episode doesn't show that it will be as lame as skipping an origin story of a superhero.

Not to be confused with the lameness of endlessly repeating the origin story of a superhero ... wink.gif
