+1

Yes MAx Headroom is the first thing I think of when I see Matt Frewer.

At least Falling Skies has been renewed for a fourth season.

Quite the contrast to his Wilson character on "House".

The main thing I got out of the episode (besides a year's worth of sentimental dreck) was a stronger sense that the deputy leader is the mole. Shouldn't the mad scientist who hates everybody be slightly suspicious when she asks him to analyse the super weapon that nobody is supposed to know about, especially when she lied about Mason asking for the report? She probably wants to know what it does just so she can report it to the Skitters.

Speaking of Skitters, since when does Pope call them that? I forget what the Berserkers' name for them was supposed to be (Cooties?), but I didn't realise that he was such a conformist to start using the local slang. tongue.gif

I thought she was the mole too, when she asked him to look into it. But then she admitted to him that Mason didn't ask her, so why would she admit if she's trying to hide. I don't think it's her.

It's probably Mason himself, he was captured. Probably has some tracking device in him too, that's how they found the president.

Just like Hal goes running off without knowing about it, papa Mason is probably afflicted with the same. It would have to be someone in the group that went to see the president. Could be Cochise.

Thanks, I've been racking my brain to try to figure out who that character was before.

Renewed for season 4. Excellent news!!

TNT Hands 'Falling Skies' Fourth Season

Summer series remains hit for cable channel

by MICHAEL HINMAN, posted Jul-3-2013

Fans may be a little weary of where storylines are going this season, but that hasn't stopped them from turning out to see what happens next on "Falling Skies." And that has earned the show a fourth season by TNT.

The show continues to dominate basic cable in key advertising demographics of adults 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, according to The Hollywood Reporter leading both categories over the summer. The show is averaging 5.8 million viewers, up from 5.6 million the year before, when including all viewers, including those who watch it later on their DVRs.

But there are some signs that the audience is eroding a bit. The Season 3 premiere was off by 300,000 viewers, attracting 4.2 million. Yet, the key advertising demos remains strong, and helped make the decision by TNT quite easy.

The alien-invasion series has kept it simple in terms of distribution. Each season has been just 10 episodes, and TNT has been consistent on when it airs, making sure not to alienate -- for a lack of a better word -- its core audience. The overall premise has remained simplified as well, allowing "Falling Skies" to carry story arcs, but not so deep that casual viewers could not tune in from time to time as well.

"Falling Skies" stars Noah Wyle, Drew Roy, Moon Bloodgood, Seychelle Gabriel and Will Patton. It's one of three television series produced by Steven Spielberg, joining the summer CBS series from Stephen King "Under the Dome" as well as the upcoming "Lucky 7" for ABC expected to hit the schedule in the fall.

"Falling Skies" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.

It bugged the heck out of me and I refused to look it up on the net until I figured it out myself. It took a few scenes before it clicked. smile.gif

Ever since I saw his name on the credits I was looking for him, as soon as they introduced him I knew it was him

It's weird that the skitters didn't use their heat finding tech to find Tom and Jerry, I mean Poe with the camp fires and the skitters went alone with no mechs in the woods

The character writing for this show keeps getting worse. The fight scene was nonsensical. As you said totally out of character and without any reason whatsoever. Kind of like Anne going nuts last week. When Lourdes acknowledged how out of character Anne's escape was I thought the writing staff was acknowledging how weak a development it was, then the writers pull the exact same thing this week. They even made the dynamic worse later in the episode when Mason goes off on his "Loyalty, obligation, duty etc." speech. Is this the same Mason who has two kids, a wife, a baby, is the leader of the Charleston resistance and liaison to another race? Yet he's the one saying Pope has no balls for not trying to leave and gives up with a bad leg? rolleyes.gif

And now skitters go down with a single shotgun blast when previously you had to basically blow all their limbs off first?

I'm also suspecting Mrs Vice President of Charleston to be the mole. Previously I thought it was Lourdes because of her increased screen time, but that was explained when the show lost Moon as the resident doc. Now we have the VP getting more scenes than she has had all season, not wanting to search for Anne and the obvious clues of the photos of the wormhole transit gun (or whatever it is) and the snooping around trying to find out what it was. I still think the show is going to twist this into her working for the POTNUS and she provided the details to allow Cochise to be kidnapped.

At least with Moon off the show I don't have to suffer the space baby cliche. Now if only Hal could get pregnant in real life ...

I'd rather have more Matt Frewer than Mirror Universe Hal.

I thought Mason used that line to get Pope to save himself .. ?

Which still means Mason was giving up instead of even just trying to hobble out of the woods on his bad leg. Which clearly wasn't that bad.

The end result would have been Pope gets away alive and Mason still dies because he didn't even try. Made more stupid by the fact Pope got him to the shelter from the beach in the first place.

edit: I actually thought Pope was going to use Mason's speech against him to force him to try and get up. All Pope had to do was repeat exactly what I mentioned earlier and tell him that "duty, honor, responsibility blah blah blah" are exactly the reason Mason needs to make the effort.

Or Mason considered that his last act of self sacrifice and when Pope returned, Masons faith in humanity was restored and he was then reinvigorated enough to save himself with Popes help .. after all, is Mason not allowed to have a moment of despair .. ?? wink.gif

If he gives up that easily with a bad ankle, Mason will be throwing himself off the tallest piece of rubble in Charleston after finding out Anne has been written out gone missing and he has an alien baby!

Plane crash? This is supposed to be the same guy who was tortured aboard an alien spaceship by the Overlords and Evil Karen and was then implanted with an eye bug! He was pretty chipper after that.

Methinks the people of Charleston need to re-elect another president because Mason is getting soft.

I took it that Mason knew he and Pope would die if they continued. If Pope and him stayed, there was a possibility they'd both die. Making Pope leave ensured Pope would survive. And he was going to heal up and try to leave when he physically could.

If he'd given up, he wouldn't have pulled his gun on the skitters wink.gif

So how did Anne get impregnated by an alien? Are we to believe that something was done to Tom when he was held by the aliens? Guess he should have used a condom!

And if they had been stranded there for days and Mason had a bleeding wound and barely had the strength to open his eyes. Yeah, that might have been the preferred solution.

But in actuality they had been in the woods for one day, Pope had already got him from the beach even without a leg splint, Mason didn't even try to walk for 10 seconds even with Pope's help, his leg wasn't that bad, the skitters were not even close (they even stopped to make another fire!), they had two guns and both were capable of using them ...

Nope, just dumb writing for Mason. Pope came out of this episode not only looking like the most resilient and stronger of them (and not just physically) but also less of a douchebag because he didn't start a fight over a snake on his head.

She didn't, it was Tom's time with the aliens, and the alien device that was in his head for awhile.

Oh, that little bug/lizard creature in his ear? I thought Kirk shot it when it came out of Chekov's ear.
