He seems more concerned with poaching chicken than getting revenge for his brother. Maybe he's laying low and waiting for his chance, but that's not the impression that I'm getting. (unless I'm screwing up characters and that wasn't his brother, but I think it was).

I thought he gave her "I know what you did" stare while they were in the kitchen.

I guess I just assumed he knew...they managed to escape and his brother is now not around. You would think he would at least ask about him...

Thought the third episode was okay. Let down by the predictability of the forced conflict between Wyle and Steven Weber. It lacked all subtlety and I could see the ending coming from the moment they hugged.

It's a pity that the aliens killed all the sci-fi nerds in the first wave attack too. They must have been priority targets otherwise at least one of them might have suggested the idea that the aliens might be telepathic and having a live one in the base could cause a problem.

Also interesting to note that the aliens took off the training wheels this week and learned how to shoot without requiring laser targeting.

Watching the humans attempting any covert mission in this show is similar to the bumbling crew of "Whale Wars".

I enjoyed this episode.

Apparently none of the writers have ever been up close and personal w/ a smoke wrench (acetylene torch for the non-gear heads). That youngster would have suffered some very severe burns to have a torch that close to his skin not to mention the heat thru conduction of the needles he was cutting thru.

So far this had made V look stellar by comparison.

It's s tv show. Every show takes liberties. It's not real life.

THis show is what V could have been but far superior.. I liked V and wanted ABC to renew it but to be honest I actually fell asleep watching V but can honestly say Falling Skies is faster-paced and exciting.. Can't wait to see what is going to happen next :-) Cool Show !!

I thought the kid would be burned too but I figured it was a trade-off and the kid wouldn't feel any pain anyway. It didn't seem to affect him much though.

I couldn't be sure if the needles were supposed to be metal either. They looked like some kind of plastic so I was surprised they were using a torch to cut them. I guess it seals the end and stops his spinal fluid leaking out when he walks or making a noise like a set of human bagpipes.

That's the kind of liberty you see in a Roadrunner cartoon. You hold a torch that close to someone's bare skin and you're going to have a "Burning Man" w/o going there.
I've been enjoying the heck out of this show :-) Do you think it can get a renewal ?
I still want to see where they go with this, but I don't think I've witnessed a scene so painfully corny and cliche than from when he drags in the alien POW through the time he finally exits.
Dialogue is maudlin and atrocious, while some plot elements look inserted merely to pander to key demographics. The writers of Jericho aren't behind this show, are they? If we get another mopey long shot of Noah's youngest kid, I am gone. Previews looked okay, but this is not living up to my expectations so far.

Completely agreed.

How stupid are these people? Even if he had just sprinted over there and grabbed the kid, it would have been far better than yelling out his name and alerting every enemy in the town to the fact they're there.

Stupid moron. I hope Pope poisons him so he can't be sent on another mission.

If I were there, I'd kick his a** for putting me in danger like that. He should know better. I swear, it's Michael and Walt all over again. Waaaaaaalt! My boy! Waaaaalt! Geez...

Frankly, I'm flabbergasted by how stupid everyone is in this show. They're running out of episodes to keep me from bailing.

Oh, and I love the "just get one kid" thing. Why? If you can grab a couple, you have a backup to practice the removal surgery on. If it doesn't work, now you have to go grab another and they might now be there. Doesn't anyone ever make a contingency plan?

Oh and let's lock up unguarded, an alien about which we know nothing. Maybe it has acid blood like Alien or laser shooting eyes. As the Duke once said, "Life's tough, it's a lot tougher if you're stupid." Unless these aliens succumb to something a la WOTW, then mankind is doomed. The line in Vegas is aliens 100 to 1.

Or how do they know that the aliens don't have some way to track and locate their own? Bringing the POW there could be like one big tracking device that leads right to the hideout...

I've given up on this show. We're supposed to believe that during six months of fighting no one had captured an alien. Thank god for our savior Tom Mason. Oh please....

I thought this week's episode was just as bad as the pilot, which as set forth in my earlier posts was bad, indeed. I got down to the last 10 minutes but then came to my senses and deleted my season pass. Best wishes to all of you who can continue to stomach the thing but I'm out.

Nah, it was worse, the dialog in this show is utter garbage ("now that you people are operating from a secure base"[right, a school with massive windows...], "we're in a full-court press", "no, they die free", "dammit, be careful"), wow, the off-the-shelf saccharin dialog just keeps coming, I'm only 10 mins in to this episode and I'm done, it must be aimed at the AI crowd that wouldn't know quality dramatic writing if it smacked them in the face, just truly awful... SP deleted here as well.

Hoping for some real, intelligently written, sci-fi in the future, obviously I'm not holding my breath.

"The network's Sci-fi series Falling Skies built on Leverage's lead in audience, garnering 4.2 million viewers in its second week."

Then most shows are like a roadrunner cartoon. Because that is typical of most tv shows and movies.

Enjoyed this episode. Not sure why so many people still post here that apparently hate the show. If you hate it, why are you still watching it and posting?

I like that they have an alien now, hopefully they gain some usefull information from it. I am really curious now about those structures appearing in all the major cities, I wonder where they will go with that story line and what they will end up being/doing.
So went from 5.9 million to 4.2. Big big drop. Probably will see that trend continue.
The secret to enjoying such shows is to overlook the obvious inaccuracies and lack of logic.
I'm willing to give it a few more episodes to settle in, as it took Invasion and SCC several episodes to really get going. With that said, the writing on FS has been piss poor so far unlike the other 2 I've mentioned.

I didn't watch Invasion but I agree 100% about TSCC - a far better series with superior writing from the beginning & acting. And characters you could "care" about. There is no comparison & it only lasted 2 seasons.

My wife already bailed after this week's episode -

too much like Jericho but not nearly as good
nothing original about the show

I'm not ready to give up on it but I have to agree about -

lame dialog like "be careful" & "we have a secure place now"
stupid actions like the dad jumping up in the midst of the aliens & yelling out his kid's name
very derivative story & characters

If it doesn't improve soon, this could make The Event look good
At least V had camp to fall back on

Well, if you're turned off by this show, there's always Battlestar Galactica, now airing on BBC America.

Guess maybe we're spoiled by good sci-fi like BSG and Fringe that more or less has consistently intelligent writing that doesn't insult the fans intelligence. Just look at some of the recent posts for examples of ridiculous/lazy writing.
They might as well have named Noah's kid Boxey because he's just about as annoying as that kid from the 70's BSG series

If the show doesn't improve quickly- in a few weeks it will draw 1.2 million and will be on the chopping block.

It's only a ten episode run so this season isn't going anywhere. I can't think of a single show that TNT has pulled mid-season.

And they are already underway with season two, so it will more than likely be back.

Wasn't suggesting the show would be pulled from this season's run- but if ratings plunged enough it could be pulled however unlikely that seems right now.
If after 8-10 episodes is does pull a 1.2 do you think they'll continue with a second season? Orders for seasons have been cut before ("The Cape" was cut from 13 to 10 episodes when the ratings slipped- and the final completed episode was never even aired IIRC).

How do they justify spending money on second season episodes when they had not even aired the first episode of the first season yet and got ratings back?
