rattlensnake

Just got finished changing from black to rattlesnake on my interconnects.

Check out this pic - neither is poisonous. It's a corn snake eating a smooth earth snake on my patio. It was cool as hell to watch.

That's pretty cool-I have zero problems with non-venomous snakes, but unfortunately I mostly see rattlers. The one in my pic was definitely over 6 feet, and Nezff's cables give me the creeps .

How you liking the new 4311? I'm still getting used to mine but I'm really digging it.

We have rattlers and copperheads. Rattlers don't bother me at all, copperheads are just mean!

I'm liking it a lot, but then they're connected to old speakers until new ones arrive, and to an ancient 26" 720p LED display, so no Audyssey or fancy upconversions are taking place yet. I haven't quite gotten into some of the advanced features but I'm loving the on screen menu compared with older versions I owned. In a couple of days a used Denon universal disk player will arrive so I will be playing around with DenonLink, which I'm looking forward to. It will be used for 2- and multi-channel music only. I went from a 5700 to 4803 to 2809 to 4311, so it's nice to be back up near the top again.

Hey guys - awesome job on those cables! I have Audioquest FLX 14/4 wiring I'd like to dress up - 14gauge, 4conductor.

What size cable pants would I need? Outerdiameter seems to be between 8 and 10MM. Would you recommend 10mm? Also, I'd like to add shrinkwrap on my crimped spade ends - is there a trick on buying the right size heat shrink?

if you cant remove the spades, then you will have to get something big enough to go over the spades, and also shrink down enough.

Sorry, I probably confused you. I don't have spades on yet, just planning on cable pants, adding the crimp on spades and using shrink wrap over the crimp and a bit over the pants.

So I'm really trying to get validation on which size cable pants and direction on heat shrink (if there's any trick on choosing a proper heat shrink size, that is).

I use 10mm pants and 1/2 shrink. 2:1 ratio will be fine for what you are doing. smaller pants sometimes will show your work underneath and look too tight in a way. Kinda like a fat woman with tight pants on.

Notes:

-Like others have mentioned, practice first on a very short section.
- Have a lighter handy for the techflex, it frays like mad if not sealed off immediately
- Close your eyes when cutting the 12AWG. I almost had a tiny wire fly off in my eye when cutting down to size for the GLS
- Tape off the techflex to the cable, overlapping the black tape 1/2 on the techflex and 1/2 on the white sleeve. Don't worry about being too neat its hidden under the cable pants
- Don't start messing with the set screws from a height. They fly out and are impossible to find. Keep the GLS plug and wire close to a surface so the screw doesn't go missing if it pops out
- With the 12AWG, I first tired to double it over inside the GLS, but then the set screw wouldn't go all the way in ( which is needed to get the cover back on). Just 1/4" of bare wire is fine, you can eyeball where the wire is inside the GLS plug and it sets fine.
- Hardest part is getting the 12AWG end to line up with the end of the GLS plug.
- Also if you forget red and black, I just unscrewed the GLS and took a peek before inserting into my receiver
-The new GLS plugs are tight. I love them and they fit beyond snug in the speaker interface.

Looking forward to making some more and mixing up the colors!

They look great powerline, very similar to mine with rattlesnake techflex, although I'm too dumb, I went with GLS locking that differentiate between red and black.

Same here. I grew up in S.A. TX. Tons of woods to ride our bikes, I heard the rattlers more than I saw them riding on thin dirt trails.

But once me a few of my friends were dinking around in huge dried (mostly) river bed with sporadic pools here and there. We were swimming in one to cool off and a huge ('bout 7') moccasin swam out among us. We were practically running on top of water getting out of that pool.

The 4311 is working well with the new cables!

Thanks! Since you've done this before, I'll bug you with one more question, what banana plugs would you recommend? They don't have to be super cheap, I wanna be sure they'll hold up over time.

i use GLS plugs or spades. Have used all of them.

Im actually waiting on some Wave plugs and Safe Connect ones right now.
