well i hooked up the new cable to the centre channel speaker and hell it even works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

never used a banana plug before at the future shop they sell 2 pairs for 24.99

how many to go skys the limit CR13

do a couple of 10 footers for my mains tonight maybe..

CR13 do you think you could shrink wrap 2 25 ft flex tex together on a 50 ft cable ?? guess i need to order from another source parts express only sells 25 ft packs in 3/8

cheers

Wow, with those prices, man that is not a bad idea on trying to see if you are able to put some of your speaker wires on the market.

About your question, I guess you already have 2 sets of 25 ft techflex and you are planning on using both for your 50 ft cable. If that is the case, well I think you can tie both 25 ft techflex using electric tape and then you can cover it using the heat shrink material.

Now, if you don't have the techflex, then you can go ahead and buy a 50 ft roll. I purchased mine from furryletters and you can buy the techflex on 25 ft rolls, but when you order more than that 50 ft, 75 ft, 100 ft, etc. they will send you a single roll for the amount of techflex that you purchase. In my case I placed my order for 50 ft of techflex and it was just a single roll, that of course I used to built 5 speaker wires.

Keep having fun and good luck with your speaker wire business!

dont tell anyone lots of competition on this thread eh CR13 ....

LOL

yup the box stores make hugh profit margins on this stuff.. always good to haggle with em especially when u buy a big ticket item..

they give you half price and still make massive profit...

hey i thought i heard a magical sonic nirvana difference from my centre channel speaker after putting on the home made cable could be a bit bias tho LOL..

i didnt order enough tech flex to finish my surrounds just testing the waters.. could use more 12 g cable too..

anybody have expirence with pay pal ive never used it is it safe?

cheers..

One of many 10' cables.

The stamped logo on the cable pants buffed right out with a rag and dab of paint thinner.

I used everything listed in the original post of this thread. Knukonceptz cable pants from Ebay, 3/8" techflex from Ebay, Monoprice 12 gauge in-wall wire, and Nakamichi banana plugs from their website. Plugs took two weeks to arrive, but everything else was received within 3-4 days. I didn't bother with heat shrink, and the pants fit snugly with electrical tape terminating the techflex. The Knukonceptz cable pants were too long for my liking, so I cut off a few inches.

I paid 13.50 for shipping for the pants also from KnuKonceptz ebay page also. I ordered 20 pair of pants + shipping came out to $33.30 to my house. They came in a standard USPS envelope, I didnt have to pay any tax or duty on them either.
Heres their ebay page http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390331133310

Cables look pretty sweet. biggrin.gif

heres a link to the guy I got the banana plugs from on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/270683548580?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Not bad, 16 bucks for 24 plugs, free shipping. Took just about 2 weeks to get them so if youre in a hurry you might wanna look elsewhere, these are coming from Hong Kong.

I didnt have to pay any duty or taxes on any of the pants, banana plugs, or techflex, they all just came in envelopes and were shipped to my house in Canada. All the stuff I ordered from Monoprice I had to pay tax on, I had a giant box that was a $350 dollar order though and I had it shipped to my buddies house over in Detroit. If I had it shipped to my house I would have gotten screwed for all kinds of extra fees, taxes and shipping. If I come back across with one or two hundred dollars worth of stuff, they dont usually pull me in, but with the subs I fully expected to get pulled in to pay tax.

when you say fit, do you mean they are too loose and can slide off?

The ones you linked are 8mm which should be fine. PE sells 8, 9mm etc..

So, yesterday, I received the 10 mm speaker wire pants from Parts Express. To my surprise they are a lot shorter than the KnuKonceptz 10 mm speaker wire pants, which is pretty disappointing since they wont all match. Also, with the KnuKonceptz speaker wire pants you can modify them by making them shorts as needed. With the Parts Express speaker wire pants it isn't possible.

Just for FYI for anyone else who is a picky as I am. I will post some pictures to compare the Parts Express vs KnuKonceptz speaker wire pants.

All great looking cables. Just no way for me to feed them into my J29 stands unless i run the cable in first then add the end.

Sorry for the delay in answering your question. I like the GLS Audio locking bananas a lot. They are well made - heavier than I thought they would be - and look sharp. A minor gripe I have is that they are a little difficult to tighten so that they have a really snug fit. I had to hold the pin with one hand and tighten with the other so that the plug did not spin. Other than that they worked out really well.

I trimmed my KnuKonceptz pants as well. I liked having extra length to cut it to my ideal size. Also their logo buffs right out with a rag and dab of paint thinner. Mine are all black with no lettering.

I just ordered some supplies to make speaker cables. Looking forward to giving my front speakers just an added touch of class compared to cheap speaker wire from Lowes. I ordered 10, 12 ga cable pants and 3/8 carbon techflex. Just have to order some wire from somewhere and I will be ready to rock and roll. I am surprised by some comments though that people think it is difficult to make these. I guess it would be because they don't have proper tools but I guess every persons level of skill is different.

I thought they were extremely easy to make. But that was just me I tend to have a knack for this kind of arts and crafts
