Not really, it is pretty flexible... In fact, if you could get the original pourable version in a can (made to dip handles of tools), you could actually dip-coat the ends after you put on the tech flex and tape the ends

Here is my first attempt at my own cable. I used carbon and I have yet to scrub off the wording from the speaker pants. Wife likes how it looks so that is all that matters and she thinks they look high end. I noticed that many of you used shrink wrap and I didn't even think about it with this. I will certainly have to remember to do it on my 10 foot cables.

Thank you. I wish I would have looked at more to see how long people would make the pants. I took an inch off and they are still really long. It doesn't bother me but I think I would prefer a shorter look. Overall, I am happy with the initial cable, but there is a lot of tweaking I can do to get future cables looking solid.

great looking cables.. you can always add the shrink wrap.. i used the 3 to 1 stuff and a blow dryer on high worked well enough.. just have to undo the banana.. to get it on..

where did you get that carbon from its alot more blue looking than mine looks good ...

I like the longer spearker wire pant look. I bought some speaker wire pants from Parts Express, and those are pretty short. Probably more than half shorter than KnuKonceptz. I like KnuKonceptz speaker wire pants better because you can cut them to your liking.

I made my cables a few months back (after reading the tips in this thread); I used the Knukonceptz pants and I too cut them down. I ordered a few extra, so I took one and played around with lengths to figure out what I liked before cutting wires, etc. I think those pants have legs which are like 5" or 6" long?? - I cut mine down to like 2" or 2.5" legs; once you get the banana on I found that to be plenty long. I wanted them just long enough so that I wasn't having to fight to get both bananas into the binding posts.

i order the parts express pants they are short.. but they work just right at the speakers and avr.. having longer legs always gives you options to play and i do like women with longer legs LOL

one thing tho about shorter legs is that it is harder for the bananas to touch. when you attach the bananas so they are naturally away from each other.. the shorter pants i think would naturally help keep
them apart.. witch is a good thing if you dont turn off the power supply..

It is probably just the distance from the camera and the background of my carpet playing tricks. It isn't blueish in person. I got the carbon from the ebay seller many people have recommended.

Parts Express' pants have a sort of variable length. In early 2011, I posted pictures of their 6-, 8- and 9mm pants.

cool pic of the pants.. i used the 10 mm because they where out of the 9 at the time not sure if 8 would fit.. for cl 12 awg and 3/8 flextech...

the 10mm are short 1.75 inch to the y of the legs..

I had to use the Parts Express 10 mm as well, and I don't like them. They are way shorter compare to KnuKonceptz.

they work.. you can always change em up.. now that your a master at the do it yourself cables Gus....

the 8mm worked on 16awg (slightly loos where it reaches the techflex...but nothing a wind of electrical tape couldn't fix.

I am looking forward to making some with 12awg this summer. Arts and crafts is fun wink.gif but i DO want to make them that Cherry color ...HOW????

second option is the dark blue

make another set ... one thing about the colours.. they do look different once you get them, than on the computer..

the fire ones look good to me on the puter but.. like to feed my speakers fire.. lol

i have no mains been shopping for a set of mains in 3000k range any picks here..? rx 8 studio 60 100 gx 200 300 a bit high..

Finished my speaker cables. Simple as could be. I just have to buy some shrink wrap to keep the pants from moving on me. Here is a picture that is closer so you can see the carbon color better. I think they look good. I just wish I had more room in my basement so I could space my speakers farther apart.

This is a really cool color!

I like this picture much better and if this is more like the true color of these than the previous picture I'm going to have to get some of this carbon. There's something about the simplicity of this color that's appealing to me. I've been following this thread for some time now and trying to make up my mind which color I prefer of all the nice ones I've seen and it hasn't been easy trying to decide. So far, I think this color suit's me best.

I think heat shrinking will just help keep the pants good and up against the banana plugs and keep the flex from possibly coming out, even just a little. I really do like the color too!

I think it is really nice. It is very universal for a lot of applications. Other colors look really good but the problem becomes what kind of application do you have in your home. I went for something that could be used with any type of speaker color and it flows well with my setup smile.gif.
