OK, perhaps I'm all alone here but this particular repeated grammatical error of yours is driving me to distraction, like the prose equivalent of nails on chalkboard. It's "an opinion", "are an ok plug" and "has an issue with me". Harkening back to 4th or 5th grade English class for a moment, the rule is that "an" should be used before words which begin with vowel sounds while "a" should be used before words which begin with consonant sounds.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread topic. redface.gif

Not to mention typing on an iPhone is tough but in so glad we have people who are so concerned. Thank you so much for that enlightening but idiotic approach to demean a person. I guess I should watch every post which you make to make sure they are always grammatically correct to sir.

Oh wait. Care to explain why you misspelled role playing here.

That's good.

I could have not pushed them in all the way or they could have bottomed out. I had two demo plugs that I tried on rf 62 and rf 63 speakers and they were super tight. My locking plugs went in all the way and expanded for a more secure fit. Glad you like the waves.

I just went upstairs and tried the waves again on my emo amp and they just fall out the hole.

what emo amp is it?

xpa 3 no trouble with nakimichi wave flex plugs.. real tight fight.. did you try making the wave bigger by inserting a banana?

like this...

i did notice its about 3-4 mm longer than the mono price plugs..

but the contact is way better inside..

there also very light weight..

the double screw make the wire very secure as well..

i like em no problems here biggrin.gif

maybe those locking bananas mechanical force is busting the inside diameter of your binding posts wide open...

that would not be good....

cheers

I'm about to order all of the supplies to make the cables for my new HT set-up. I plan to follow the standard recipe pretty closely (Monoprice in-wall 12awg, 3/8 Techflex (dark purple), Nakamichi plugs, etc. I'm undecided on whether to use the cable pants or to use 1/8" Techflex and heat shrink for the leads instead. If I did this I would use Superhero Techflex for the red wire and Checkerboard for the black. I think that this would look pretty cool. Has anyone made this substitution yet? I haven't read through all 93 pages. Is there any reason that this wouldn't work?
There have been several examples of people using techflex like you're talking about, but not in those colors. I think that sounds pretty interesting. You could always change it if you didn't like it. If you try it, be sure to post pics.

I just want to share with you guys few extra cables made for my new setup:

And for "tampa frank" here is a really close-up pic of the Parts Express cable pants (really easy to work with and the finish is superb):

Anyone use the wave plugs from Madisound?

http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/banana-plugs/plugs-bp-sz-single-banana-plug-black/
http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/banana-plugs/plugs-bp-sz-single-banana-plug-red/

Not the cheapest out there but I like the slim profile and the fact that it's unbranded. I'm planning on using them with BJC 5000 wire and tech flex.

pick up 2 xpa 1 differential mono block amps absolutely amazing sound quality improvement with the extra power and head room..

and fully balanced signal..

but the binding post are 13 inches apart.. so i had to cut off my pant legs and strip the cable off about 5 more inches..

is there such a thing as 8 inch long pant legs and where could i get them?

thanks

Are these the 12 guage 4 wire cables cl2?

I have been using some electrical tape to squeeze down the techflex on the ends of the wire, then just pull the cable pants over top of that and there you have it! DONE!

Hello All

First congrat to everyone who posted picture, they all look great!

Second I need a little help to chose the the right products for sleeve and heat wrap.

I just purchase some Blue Jeans Cables made of the Belden 10-gauge 5T00UP with locking banana, I don't think, I can puchase some of the the Techflex that would slide over it.

What size should I puchase for the main cable and where can I find some of the heat wrap that look like this (look like one piece).

The good would be, great looking cable.
The bad, is I have to cut a weld connection (made by BJC) and solder (not too good for me due to my shake because of my little gift from the Golf war in a peace keeping mission after the the Irak/Kuwait war).
Unless someone can recommend a good banana jack that you can screw the wire for the above.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but will attempt to help.

I use 3/8 sleeving and 1/2 heat shrink. I usually use 10mm pants but with 10 gauge you might want to go with 11.

You did!
I have no idea where to start.
So many choice of sleeve and different size and it seem there is no pants that are "heat shrink" that could forgive for errors.

All of guys cables look great, but cannot afford the shipping in Canada for try and error.
All i am trying to achive is a great look from the wall to the speaker.

Again, thank you for the reply.

You are looking for vinyl heat shrink? Are you looking for 3/8 techflex?

I'm glad that you made some money from your hobby. $25 profit for each cable is not a bad investment at all. If you do it more often, it'll pay for all your home theater cables and other component. Maybe, all of us in this thread forming our own cable company. There are a lot of knowledge and working hands in here. Congratulation bud!

A BIG plus one
Without Pure evil, I would never thought to do some of my own, even if I was into DIY speakers.

Dr. M is helping me on the the side to built my own I will post pictures.
