Samsung pn58c8000 calibration help please:)

I picked up this tv a couple months ago and primarily use it for gaming. I've set the menu setting to what I think looks pretty decent. Basically turned down all the setting they had from factory. It's a fantastic picture. could be better though, if someone would share their settings I wouldnt mind comparing.

And now for the main issue. I notice a LOT of input lag, about half a second from controller to tv. My XBR LCD never suffered lag like this. Playing an rpg or other slower moving game isn't bad but games relying on reflex suffer. Any ideas what I could do to minimize input lag on this tv? ...without turning on game mode. For some reason with game mode on the tv gets this weird image separation problem every half hour or so when playing back 1080p content from any source. Also the picture looks noticeably worse.

Thanks in advance

It's that time of year again ... new TVs and the same questions every year.

This is a good thread to read about what sharing settings is all about. Unfortunately it is not calibration so asking for settings in a calibration forum is the wrong place for it.

You will get better results if you use a test disc and follow the instructions.

No need to calibrate a T.V. It is the same as buying a Truck from a dealer
then he will come to your house in 30 days and check your air pressuer , on your truck make sure it is at 35 psi. I am a Tech. It is a rip off.

What a moron!

Whoops... Oh, I take that back. He's absolutely right if he's talking about getting a "calibration" from Sears or some place like that.

Lol, now you're bashing my profession. I do home renovations and for your info there's a LOT of fine tuning that goes into framing and installing a door properly.

Anyways, I guess I posted this in the wrong forum? I just figured calibration of either service menu or user menu settings would fall under the same area...Sorry about that.

Still a little sad to not see any answer about possibly reducing lag for gaming. Oh well.

For the guy saying a tv needs no calibration, you're right. A tv NEEDS nothing out of the box, however if I'm going to spend $3000 on a tv I would like to get the best possible picture quality out of it. Plus I'm one of those few people who can actually see a difference in even a minor adjustment.

Unfortunately, as I said above, I dont really have the $ for a professional calibration right now. Reno business is kind of lacking atm....

Greetings

Just get yourself a test disc and follow the instructions. Test discs don't even have to cost you much money either, as they can be downloaded and burned to a dvd for all of 25 cents ...

No instructions with that disc though ... but you can find instructions over at the spectracal site in the form of both Videos (for those that don't like to read) and in written form.

If you're referring to the AVS Disc, the instructions are on a PDF file next to the download link for the image file.

Good to know, but there seems to be a segment of the population that is unwilling to read ...

yea, instruments never need to be tuned either, and scales never need to be recalibrated.
