Should I get a second subwoofer?

I am wondering if I need a second subwoofer? I'm moving to a new house with a 15x25' room. I currently have a BIC PL-200 subwoofer. I can spend a max of about $300-400 if I were to get another subwoofer. I'm wondering if I should invest in a second PL-200 or look at some Energy subwoofers at a local store. (All my other speakers are Energy brand). I can get the ESW-C10 for $269 or the ESW-M8 for $399. Shipping the PL-200 is right in the middle of that roughly. I live in Canada btw. I could also get a Velodyne VDR12 for $349 too.

Thanks

If you think you need another sub, you should get it. Nothing beats that "I think I'm going to throw up" feeling from absorbing too much LFE...

Shouldn't you wait until you've moved, relocated and calibrated your existing sub to see how it performs in the space before deciding if you need more output. It could be that a new location and volume setting on the back of the amp makes your existing sub sound better and more rich than it does in it's current environment.

As always, YMMV...

Regardless which direction, and at what time you do it, do not get an Energy sub. One can do much, much better for the price. Energy is a fine company with many fine products, but strong subs at good prices is certainly not an aspect in which they excel.

Good luck.

Based on your room size, I would go with a two sub configuration .. I have a similar size HT .. just use two of the same units .. my best placement was fortunately left and right of my screen .. others find one front one rear to be optimal .. experimentation with placement is key ..
