Piranha Judder on PS63C7000

I have a Samsung PS63C7000 connected with a Samsung C8800A 3D bluray player.

I rented Piranha 3D from my local video store and found that is shakes so bad that it's unwatchable.

I have Monsters Vs Aliens (came with the TV), and it was perfect.

I've tried the various judder setting on the TV but it didn't reduce the judder. I turned off/on the 24fps setting, no difference.

I'm completely new to 3D.. (got to start somewhere). so I'm not sure what information I need to provide to get some help.

The bluray player is connected to Yamaha rx-v567 receiver via hdmi 1.4 cable, and from receiver to tv also with hdmi 1.4 cable.

How can I get a smooth watchable picture?

thanks in advance

"She" is from Melbourne, Australia.

Piranha 3D is available for Rental from most (if not all), movie rental outlets.

Have not seen it in retail stores.

Took the BD to the retail outlet where I purchased the TV and player. They played it on a 3D LED TV, not the samsung brand, and a different BD player. It was perfect. No judder whatsoever.

So the problem is not the disc. That leaves me with my set up. Either the HDMI 1.4 cable, TV or player.

Any advice on how to resolve problem, now that we've resolved the issue of my gender, where I'm from and whether the title is available in Australia

Well, according to the sales person (whom I'm starting to doubt), it is.

The Yamaha website is quite scarce on comments on the HDMI version for this player. The only reference I can find, is that shown on the image. I'm taking that as this receiver supports HDMI v1.4.

Well, spent a couple of hours with the sales guy, and he was fianlly able to duplicate the judder problem. We tried a couple of different TVs (Plasma, LED, LCD), a couple of different movies, a few different HDMI cables, playback from a USB and finally a few different Blu-Ray players.

What we found is that the Samsung C8800A, whilst it claims to be 3D player, it is actually not capable of playing MOST 3D content. It seems that 2D - 3D converted stuff, for the most part, seemed ok, but S3D and S3DR stuff were just unable to be played.

The player claims to be HDMI 1.4 ready. It doesn't appear that this is really true.

My advice, whilst the C8800A boasts lots of features and sounds good, the only really good thing is that it looks nice, but for 3D movie playback, don't waste your money.

The C8900A has a 500gb HDD, as opposed to a 250gb in the C8800A. Unfortunately the store did not have one to test. I'd be interested to know if anyone has had issues with that player.

I ended up getting a replacement LG B558D player/PVR, which was able to play everything we threw at it.

thanks for all your help and advice people.

I have the yamaha rx-v567. It is 1.4 hdmi. If you got the receiver awhile ago, then you need to update the firmware ( even if the website says your version is 3d capable). I haven't had got the piranha 3d, yet. But I haven't had any problems with any 3d so far but only using 5900 player.

I don't know what judder is because I haven't experienced it yet.

Im using the c6900 player and every 3d BD has performed flawlessly.......until i just purchased the movie in question. It wont play properly for me either. As you stated Tanyam, it seems to jump in and out of 3d and judder( shake from left to right ) uncontrollably. I tried to update my BD player, but it wont accept the new update, it says its not compatible with my player?

As i said, i have never had a problem with other 3dBD, them being MvA, Coroline, Dispicable Me. Off to the retailer to test other players i guess. Bit annoying.

Edit. Here is a vid of the problem as seeing it is easier than explaining it.

Hi Tanya
Not sure your interested, but if you can return your 3dbd player still, you can order the panny dmp-bdt100 from amazon for under 200 and get the free 3d avatar bluray. Just a tip if you just chose the lg player for no particular reason.
