MC is rescheduling all 4 to record on any channel (and, my TA is configured wrong so it tries on a channel I don't get, pops up an annoying failure, and then schedules the next available).

How can I stop these unwanted reschedules easily? Right now it is easy as I only have 4 things scheduled, but is there a setting to prevent? I've gone in and told it Stop Recording, and deleted, but it just reschedules.

Ahh found it..

they are or actually hold your recording configurations for your series etc. you can edit them to cancel out unwnated or no longer needed recordings.

Thanks, could not have done with out your guides. My wife says I am obsessed! Your fault! I have 4 HTPCs now. One in theater room (the Silverstone), one in work out room (G620), one in living room (i3-2100), and one in the garage (G620).

I do like the case. The old one was a bit smaller and fit much better where the Silverstone currently sits, but had a bright blue light and did not look as nice. This will force me to return the Comcast box, take out the Blu-ray player, and move the HTPC to where those were. It will look much cleaner. It will also give me a chance to clean up the wiring behind the entertainment center.

Did you get yours yet?

It is kind of loud with those 3 fans running. The old box did not have any fans, but kept pretty cool.

No, I am still waiting on mine.

Oh, I like it. I have used the GD04/05 probably over 10 times. One of my favorites. My build will be strange in that I am going to put my ITX board/build in it.

No reason for me to spend money on a m-ATX board. The little ITX does everything I need and is already setup. I might even add a passive GT430 that I have sitting around unopened just to play around with it a little bit.

If you don't mind me asking which mini itx board will out be using?

Thank you very much. I just shut the machine down as I'm heading out today. But I will definitely look a closely at once I get back. I recorded a bunch of HD stuff last night and the free space on the c drive fluctuated from 29.9 to 29.1 (where it is now). The initial drop... I added Adobe reader (downloaded the Ceton install directions) yesterday during the set up, that's about a Gig.

edit: I believe this might pertain only to XP/Vista, the file structure is diff in 7. I will definitely check it out tomorrow when I return. Thank you for finding this.

Hello ! After testing different media players, I got to the conclusion that a HTPC is the only way to achieve all my requests.
So, here I am. First, thanks to all who contribute to this good thread, and had the kindness to share their knowledge and experience. For me, a Sandy Bridge will be for sure, maybe the intel i3 2100T. I will also have to upgrade my Denon receiver, to migrate to HDMI. In my built I want to include the Xonar D1 PCI sound card, which I already bought it. Is there a way to benefit of the sound corrections of xonar card, through the HDMI port ? The card has an spdif internal output, and in the manual is shown that there are video cards with spdif input. I wonder if there is a MB for sandy bridge with this connector. Thanks in advans !

Get the right MoBo and you can recycle that card.

Why do you want to keep the sound card? If you are using HDMI there really is no point in sound cards anymore.

Sell it to someone and use the money for your HTPC.

I was looking at that board as well. I am looking for a box just to use for Movies and playing of recorded TV content from my main HTPC. I am lucky enough to have fios so content recorded on one HTPC can be played back from any other. Would you stick with the G620 or go with the i32100 for future proofing?

future proofing would suggest a Z68 board and not a 67 because it's claimed that Z68 will accept the upcoming IVY CPU's due out in April.

Save the money on the CPU and get the G620 since it's probably enough. Spend the extra on the Z68 board only $10 or $20 more probably (I did not look)

Then if you wanted next year you could upgrade your CPU. No doubt it will be faster/better/cheaper for a new CPU as time goes by.

If your happy with G620 (it's enough for a basic HTPC) save the cash.

Seems a better way to future proof for less.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm a big fan of the H67M-ITX board too. Have one build with an i3-2100 and one with a G620. Both work great. i3 is in my main rig, and the extra horsepower is nice for running multiple Xbox360s as extenders.

Hi, first I want to say thanks to assassin for the guide, it's seriously appreciated by people such as myself who have zero experience with building pcs/htpcs! I've got a few questions before I plunge into my first build, so hopefully someone will be able to help. (It will be a mini-itx build using the Asrock H67m-itx board)

1) I plan on using the 2120 cpu (it's the same price as the 2100), would it be worth paying about £12 extra for the 2105, which i believe has the intel HD3000 graphics?

2) Although I wanted it to be a small build, there doesn't seem to be a great choice of cases here in the UK (most have bad reviews of psu noise) so I think I'm going with the Silverstone SG05 - does anyone know if this too has a noisy psu?. Also, will the stock coolers from 1) have any problems fitting under the cpu in this case, or will I have to get the 2120t?

3) The SG05 comes with a 120mm fan at the front of the case, does anyone have any experience with how loud it is? Also, will this fan (and the stock cpu fan) be enough to keep temperatures under control or will additional fans be needed? (the only other device in the build for now will be a samsung f4 2tb 3.5" drive)

Sorry for the long post, I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed by it all lol!

great input. I hadn't thought about making the board the future proof item, thanks.

Figure I'd start here first...

In My Channel Logos, I'm trying to increase the number of rows in the guide from 7 to 11. Or anything other than 7. I get an error every time. Tried re-boots, run as admin, still get this error. I originally I made the increase in number of rows when first installed, and now I have no idea why the guide defaulted back to the 7 rows only.

Any ideals? Re-install? Hope a re-install won't break anything else.

EDIT: Solution is to un-install MCL then disable antivirus. Re-install MCL and setup, then re-enable antivirus.
