Thanks for the input, guys.

Buy an external and then pop out the drive and make it an internal.

I just got my external Seagate from Staples. I'm going to run it for about a week using the external to make sure everything checks out and then pop it into my HTPC. Like Mfusick said, if they are going to fail they'll fail early so I'm not too afraid about voiding my warranty.

I have managed to setup all the htpc apps and they are turning out really good, would not have been possible without assassins guide.

I have a collection of world movies, and i would like to add sub categories for each. Can this be achieved?

For eg:-
Main category
English
Subcategory : Action, Comedy, Horror, Drama

German
Subcategory : Action, Comedy, Horror, Drama

Korean
Subcategory : Action, Comedy, Horror, Drama

Japanese
Subcategory : Action, Comedy, Horror, Drama

Something like the neflix does?

Which movie front end are you using? XBMC and WMC both support genres, and you can have your movies organized that method. If you want to keep your files separate, you can simply point whatever your front end is to that folder.

Using WMC. Currently i have five categories,
In my Media Browser i have added these to the Media Collection option.
English,
Music Videos,
Korean,
Japanese,
German

In the "Physical Folders that make up this collection" option, the directories are as follows.
F:\\Media\\English,
F:\\Media\\Music Videos,
F:\\Media\\Korean,
F:\\Media\\Japanese,
F:\\Media\\German

If i want to add genres under English such as action, horror, comedy.. and also retain the backdrop and folder look of the sub category, whats steps should i follow.

Hey guys just wanted to update everyone that I am starting to migrate my hardware guides on here over to my blog. Its just WAY to difficult and time consuming to maintain on forum based software and my guide is so large that often times it times out repeatedly when the forum is busy.

Needless to say I have to maximize my time nowadays.

I will still leave the guide here and will update it periodically. But the most up to date guide will be over at my blog and I will soon be adding an Ivy Bridge and Trinity section to the guide.

The direct link is here.

Surprised no one has commented on this today.

Started 05/01/12. We don't have a lot of money for advertising but thought AVS would be a good place to test the waters...

Are you guys seeing it every once in a while? Or should we advertise elsewhere?

I just saw the banner ad. Very cool.
I don't even see the ad. It must be because I have adblock plus on, that space has always been just black for me.
Ya , pretty much same deal here too . I re freshed my screen over 100 times and no ad and no blockers either . Tell u my mouse is wore out on the left button though Lots of New Egg and

I mainly use the iPad app so I don't see too many adds but I think it's a great place to advertise. I do spread your name through word of mouth though.

So I was fiddling around with the settings in the graphic properties of the Nvidia card on my Assassin HTPC and was switching between 23hzp, 59hzp, and 60hzp to see which one looks best and couldn't really decide. My TV is a 1080p DLP that supports 24hz. What would be the best setting to ensure Blurays are played back with the best quality in XBMC?

I also use MPC-HC with MadVR as an external player in XBMC to play back my 10 bit anime files. I noticed minor stuttering on some encodes when there are horizontal or vertical pans which if you watch any anime you know there are a lot of them. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the specific encode as it happens with some files and doesn't with others or if there is a setting I can change to either minimize this or completely remove it. When I received the PC the option was set to 59hzp but I wanted to see if anyone was using anything different.

I saw it first thing, assassin. I even contemplated sending you a PM but I just didn't get to it.. Sorry.

Can you control where it shows up? The folks over in the AVR section are all gung ho on apple tv and sometimes I get flamed about using an HTPC. They need some education and a venture outside the walled garden.. Maybe your ad banner will help out so they can get an out of the box solution to the world of HTPC.

No, I can't control where or when it is shown. My understanding is that it is shown randomly across all forums.

Your guides are pretty incredible.

I thought they were incredible 6 months ago, and it seems they get better and better.

How do you find the time to do this?

Setup MB with a different entry point for each language (since from your later post, I see that is what you did) then in the configurator check " remember folder indexing" then in MB click the widget icon at the top and sort by genre,
