Scythe Fans are some of the quietest fans you can purchase IMO. Go over to the site and research some of their fan sizes/flavors.

So I was able to get my HTPC up and running today and I've been going through Assassins guides attempting to get WMC set up and working. Thank you for the guides!

I am running into a bit of an issue currently. Sorry if its been covered earlier in the thread.

I ripped the BluRay 'The Dark Knight' using MakeMKV.

I selected both DD 3/2 + 1 and TrueHD 5.1

After ripping it I opened it in GraphStudio.

I see that it's pulling in the audio. So I right click on the Audio portion and view the properties.

Everything is checked. I know in the guides it says not to check the 'Framing' checkbox. I've tried checking and unchecking yet I still only get the Dolby Digital 3/2 1 streamed to my receiver.

My receiver is able to handle all the new audio codecs fine. My question is did I set something up wrong that is causing the computer not to send the TrueHD 5.1 audio? I wanted to get an idea of where to fix this before I dive to deep into this. I'm playing the .mkv using GraphStudio because I didn't think that would have any affect on what audio is sent.

Use mediainfo to verify you actually have the hd track ripped.

I downloaded MediaInfo and looked at the file. Here is what it's telling me. I see both Audio formats showing.

Switch audio streams. I show you how to do this. Easier to do in xbmc, BTW.

For dts hd just rip the dts hd track. The standard dts isn't needed as it will pick up the core track.

Going through the guides still getting everything set up and running, but ran into one issue that I'm unsure about. I've seen other people have the same problem and had to reinstall codecs.

I've ripped 3 blu rays. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Master and Commander.

Both of the Batman movies work and play fine through Media Browser. When I click Master and Commander and get a message saying cannot play video : windows media center cannot find the specified file...etc. I'm not sure what's different about this movie. I ripped it and set it up the same way as all the others. The only difference I can think of is this Blu Ray has the DTS-HD MA track.

Also everything shows up fine in MediaInfo and in GraphStudio.

I have the Shark007 codec pack installed.

Can your AV receiver handle a DTS-HD bitstream? Are you connected via HDMI?

Otherwise the likely reason it won't play when the other 2 will is that its a bad rip.

I have the Sony STR-DH810 which according to the manual handles these audio formats.

Ok. I'm going to rip Cloverfield and see if that works, then rerip Master and Commander to see if it fixes the issue.

Make sure your receiver isn't trying to pass the stream through to the HDTV to decode.

As a quick test I put Master and Commander in my blu ray player and played it. The receiver immediately shows DTS HD Master Audio. So there's a disconnect somewhere with the HTPC or the rip.
Yeah something is definitely off. After ripping Cloverfield I tried playing it and nothing happens in Media Browser. This BluRay was ripped with Dolby Tru HD. The batman movies still play fine.

When I open the Cloverfield file in Windows Media Player I get a message saying: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed...

I have both LAV Filters and Shark007 Codecs pack installed and set up.

You don't want both installed. As I say pick one to use and uninstall the other.

Uninstalling either will damage the other.
Uninstall both, and choose one to re-install.

Sorry to keep posting about this. Feel like an idiot, lol.

I've uninstalled the Shark007 codec pack. I uninstalled the x64 components first and then the Win7 codec pack. I also uninstalled the LAV Filters program.

Here is the output for the master and commander blu ray rip. I do notice that the audio says ffdshow Audio Decoder instead of LAV Audio Decoder. However I've double checked my settings according to the guide and everything is set up right.

Still running up against the same issue I had before.

Also I've noticed when running version 64bit Setting Application 3.7.2 the 'Save All Settings' button never becomes available to click. It's always disabled.

This is working as expected. If for some reason you would prefer to use LAV for the audio, this can be acheived by clicking the button [setup LAV audio] on the Audio TAB and closing the popup window. It is my intent to set this to LAV in the next release anyway.

what issue would that be? EDIT: thanks for posting on my forum
Sorry but I am not interested in sifting through this thread to find it. My time is precious.

I've disabled the Save/Restore buttons in v372 because the feature is broken and I didnt have the time to fix it properly.

The problem with some BluRays not playing ended up being an issue with my Intel HD Graphics driver. After updating it with this Link everything works fine so far.

Thank you Shark007 and Assassin for your help and guides.

I want to use MPC-HC as a stand-alone player (no WMC no XBMC, though I might add XBMC later).

I had been using WMC per Assassin's guides but found myself defaulting to just using VLC because my HTPC is also my main desktop PC. Using a stand-alone player was just less hassle than delving into WMC when I wanted to watch a video. But now I have realized that VLC doesn't bitstream. Hence the desire to use MPC-HC.

For a stand-alone MPC-HC should I follow the guide XMBC Option 4? This installs MPC-HC and then ffdshow. I already have LAV Filters installed but according to Graph Studio it is not handling any of the rendering, not sure why.

Should I just start from scratch? What all should I have installed to use MPC-HC as a stand-alone player? I have seen the Advanced MPC-HC Setup thread, but it is a little too...advanced. I do not have a discrete graphics card so I can't nor do I really care to use madVR.

Thanks for any guidance.

I have an untethered jailbroken Apple TV2 for sale running XBMC. I used it for the guides and never used it again so its basically brand new.

PM me if interested as I know these are in demand currently.
