Intending to build the following system to be a HTPC/Home Server and would like to hear your comments. It will be used to:
- Consume media
- Surf the web
- Serve files to local network
- Transcode media to other devices (Plex)
- Play light games occasionally (1366x768 resolution)
Asus P8H77-I (ITX)
Intel i5 3570K
DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 G.Skill 4GB x2
Intel 120GB series 330
FSP Aurum Gold 400W
Lian Li PC-Q18B
Nice. That's a lot more cpu than you probably need, but it will make the transcoding fast.
I like the PSU. Don't often see that mentioned here, but I've been using the Aurum Gold 400 in my htpc for over a year. Works great and is really quiet. Silent would probably be the right word.
Had to look up the case. Looks good. I like those really clean lines. Indeed, I used Silverstone Temjin TJ08-E last year for a build and it's remarkable how much alike they look. Wonder who copied who?
Anyhow, nice build. Enjoy. BTW, I echo the "put the storage inside" comment. You wouldn't want to build a great looking new machine like that and then have a bunch of USB drives hanging off of it. Also, I use the stock cooler on a 3570K and it works just fine.
