I'm not saying that the Apex case can't be used for the i3 - it can. Its just that I think for the beginner the crampedness (is that a word?) might be a little too much. Having used it before you need to have pretty good cable management skills to get everything tucked in there to improve airflow and keep everything away from the fan.

Did you add a 120mm fan on the side? See my recs on page 1 for details incuding a pic of how to do this. In my experience it helps tremendously with cooling.

I didn't do the side fan yet. I plan to do a stress test on it this week and monitor the core temps. If they are borderline I'll consider doing the slimline cpu fan and 120mm side case fan. I'll report back my results.

Did the LED's go off?

Did the post screen show itself?

Are you doing a first time install?

Hit F2 or delete or whatever your MoBo requires to get into the BIOS and set the boot priority to the ODD if your OS is on DVD or set the boot priority to USB if your OS is on a USB stick. (assuming first time install??)

Way to expensive and thats due to shiping. For me it was $415AU to get it to me from china.

Im going for the wesena cases now, same profile, looks just as good.

http://www.wesena.com/prd_view.aspx?id=12 plus the eHDD as a complete system. Just have to figure out if it will fit. Might buy all my components and then measure myself then get the case. For about the same price i can get both cases with PSUs and port multipliers. so i will be getting both of those.

Isn't China closer to Australia than the U.S.? Do you have high import excise taxes or something?

Can you get into the bios? Is windows installed yet? If not go into bios and set the first boot device to your optical drive. then put the windows cd in and reboot.

Assassin one more question...Do any of these motherboards have problems doing full 7.1 bit stream audio over the built in hdmi cable?

That is the biggest issue I have had to date with my current setup and ati card. I would love to be able to eliminate having problems with that especially if one of these boards will do it perfect on board.

Thanks.

Yes, all Clarkdale and Sandy Bridge motherboards can bitstream 7.1 HD audio over HDMI.

Quick google search as proof...

Added a list of people to the first page who have been kind enough to donate.

I really appreciate these donations.

I have this MOBO - ASUS LGA 1156/ Intel H55/ DDR3 2133OC- mATX Motherboard P7H55-M Pro - and what might be confusing some people is that on this board there was a black cap covering one of the 4 pin power connectors on the board that you have to take off. Not sure why it was there. I wonder if other boards have the same thing.

Yeah.

I noted that in my ASUS build on the first page...

The MoBo with the on-board graphics and audio definitelly supports it but software support in some configurations can be cumbersome.

I've been unable to determine whether or not the stock case fans are PWM capable, but I was able to confirm with Silverstone that they are intake fans and the reason I feel air coming out of the fan vent is that it's being pushed out of the sides of the vent, since the vent is a bit larger than the actual fan. So at least that part makes sense now.
I finally got the cable and getting ready to install it. However, I notice that my case fans that Silverstone said were PWM fans have only 3 wires. (I even called Silverstone again and they insist the fans are PWM capable and the link below is outdated information?)

- Can a PWM fan have only 3 wires, I thought they all had to have 4? (http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../cs-012074.htm)
- Can I damage anything by plugging in a 3 pin fan connector into a 4 pin motherboard header?

I just tried using my USB ports on the back of my nmediaPC case and none of them are working. I can connect my keyboard to the front port, and it works fine, but when i try the rear USB ports, it does not get any response.

Any suggestions?

I have the nMediaPC 5000
ASUS P67 board
i3-2100

HELP??

Well, finally some pics.
Here is the parts list:
Case - nMEDIAPC Black Aluminum / Acrylic / Steel HTPC 5000B - 69.99 at Newegg
P/S - Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W - 39.99 at Amazon
MOBO - ASUS LGA 1156/ Intel H55/ DDR3 2133OC- mATX Motherboard P7H55-M Pro – 99.99 at Amazon
Processor - Intel i3 Processor i3-540 3.06GHz – 119.99 at Amazon
HD - Western Digital 2 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD20EARS – 79.99 at Amazon
Memory - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-4GBNQ – 44.99 at Newegg
OS – Windows 7 upgrade family 3 pack – 123.99 at Amazon

Pics of the parts:

inside the case:

Drive bay flipped up:

front of case with drive bay up:

Getting the cables ready:

CPU and fan installed on MOBO, I found it much easier to install out of the case:

Memory installed:

MOBO installed:

Power supply ready to go in:

Power supply in:

Power supply hooked up:

Drive bay ready to go in:

Drive bay installed:

Another view:

Now that everything works opened back up to clean up the wires:

Nice and neat:

And back together just waiting for the cover:

I took out the DVD player because just as others have stated the door on the case is a poor design. No big deal as I still use a stand alone BR player and everything that I rip will be done on my laptop and transfered over the network to the HTPC.
The 3 case fans are silent and my fish tank makes more noise than the HTPC.

I don't think it is a case issue. The rear USB ports are part of the MOBO. I have the same case and ASUS P7H55 and did not have any issues. Both front and rear work. You could try and unplug the front USB from the motherboard and then see if the rear ones work. That would isolate the problem to possibly the front port cable causing an issue or a BIOS setting.
Not sure.

what should I look for in the BIOS? Or is there another cable that I might have plugged in wrong from something else?

What kind of scores are you guys getting in that windows thing with these builds, mine seemed kinda low only 5.1, the lowest score was the graphics which would be the most important part of a htpc. lol

I'm not sure if it is a BIOS issue or if there is a setting in there. What are you plugging into the port to test it?

I think the scores are stupid, you could have the best components on the face of the earth except for one area and get a low score. It should be an average. But I guess also,a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. I get 6.9 with the I3 550, 6gb RAM and gtx 460. I'd be interested just out of curiosity to know if someone has the same build as me with a higher or lower score? Anybody?

Right click on my computer.

Select manage.

Look for anything in the device manager with an exclamation point beside it and try to download drivers there for it.
