@assassin
where did you get your mediabrowser background (inside theater) and icon?
What is the media browser configuration that lets you scroll cover art at the bottom of the screen:

^do you mean "Cover View"? If so, just click the upper-right 'gear' thing to configure the MB view and select cover view.

I'm pretty impressed.

The other thing is you could do this for less than $350 if you were on a network and didn't need a 2TB hard drive.

So you think that setup would do MKV files at 1080p flawlessly? I am mostly looking for a stand-alone rig for playing web content, running a torrent client, and perhaps some light web browsing from the couch with a diNovo Mini keyboard. I was waiting for ASrock or Zotac to come out with a pre-built sandy bridge, but they are lagging a bit.

Without a doubt.

anyone have suggestions for mini-itx cases for use with the i3-2100 SandyBridge processor?

Reading this thread, I noticed that assassin mentioned that there are spacing issues if you use this processor in the APEX MI-008 or Rosewill RS-MI-01 cases

is the InWin BP655 a good option? any one have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

You CAN use those cases with the 2100 but there are definitely space issues. It not absolutely contraindicated --- just something to be aware of.

Also this heatsink is roughly the exact same as the 2100t and should give you a little more room if you want...

Did you learn about the $100 sale on the case from this thread? I hope so!

I also like seeing the H61 boards starting to be used. I think they are great boards for a "simple" HTPC.

Your build looks incredible. I like the contrast of the silver HTPC case against your other gear too.

Its on the front page, btw. Congrats!

Why don't you go with the i3-2100t instead of the 2100. You get the shorter fan and won't have the clearance issues. Also, I would suggest skipping the ripjaws and getting regular gskill ram to avoid clearance issues there.

In the BAS Skins Manager, "dnicks Orange clear" skin, does anyone know how to adjust or remove the temp gauge at the top right of the screen?

Scratching my head on this one ...

@Assassin

I couldn't help but notice that you have the new Yahoo! Weather code entered into the Media Browser config. The new codes don't work with MB as you can see in your MB pic with the missing temperature in the upper-right corner of your media browser pics (only the "°" symbol is being displayed next to the clock). You have to use the old Yahoo! Weather code to get it to work. I don't know why the MB devs haven't updated the configuration to look up the code differently.

Anyway, go to this website: http://www.edg3.co.uk/snippets/weather-location-codes/

Type in your city and state (NOT your ZIP, it must but [City, ST], like "Denver, CO" for example) in the search field. It will kick back the code you need that will make MB display your weather properly.

Mondo Rock, I think this may answer your question too.
I always just used my zip code.
How about that.

Never just tried my zip. It works... even simpler!!!

The MB devs really should remove that Yahoo! Weather ID link. It's worthless now. Even the MB FAQ still says to click on it and get the code from the city URL.

Yeah, I'm a big Harman Kardon fan. I have another one in the front room with my projector and Q6600 system.

I tried the weather thing a few times and never could get the ID to work. So I basically gave up and ignored it.

I will have to try it again.

Can't interrupt my kid watching Nemo for the 1113th time though right now so it will have to wait a little while...

Yeah, the weather ID is something you have to actually ignore the dev instructions to get working. Well, now you have TWO methods for getting the ID correct!

I think Pixar must have found a way to deliver crack-cocaine through a screen. My kid is addicted to Cars... can't seem to get enough of it.

Nemo finished. I agree about the crack cocaine part.

Tried the zip code and it worked. Problem solved!

all,

got my htpc built a few months ago, works great. just got my pj back from the cleaners, hooked the puter up thru my integra dtr 7.7,via hdmi, reciever is running hdmi 1.1 firmware, i can pass audio, but not video. have you guys heard of incompatibity issue between versions of hdmi firmware. i have done alot of reading over the last 24 hours with varying opinions.

i looked to see if i could update the firmaware on the reciever, but it doesnt appear i can.

for a solution, can i get a composite video card to add to the htpc?

i'm using the gigabyte mb, i3 processor, from assasins recomendations of a few months ago. this set up runs awsome on my 60" plasma. flawless.

will this give me the abilty to get the same pic as the hdmi.

Looks like its a problem with your receiver. Maybe someone in this thread can help you.

I don't have much experience with component video cards. I know there are only a few options left.

For those asking Media Browser questions on how it looks I'll make a suggestion: Play with the settings. I did that for about an hour the first time I installed MB and just played with all the various lettings...EHS or not...cover flow or not...weather or not...and so forth. You're not going to "break" anything by trying different UI settings. Play around until you find something you really like. Do it within MB as well and you'll see the changes immediately. There is a lot there and you can make it look radically different by just a couple settings.

Don't get me wrong, questions are great. But MB is one of those apps you really have to play around with until you get a look you like.
