I use Chrome. I logged out and refreshed the website and wasn't able to replicate the issue.

Pictures to come soon, once I get the disc drive cover on and the top case cover on.

However, I'm not loving the remote I bought.
I got this guy on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16880101008

The first thing I noticed was that when I press the green WMC button, it turns my xbox on! I guess I could avoid pressing this button, but it would be nice to be able to open WMC with a press of a remote button. Has anyone else run into this problem? I cant imagine I'm the only one!

Second, I have to point the remote directly at the receiver. It would be nice not to have to point DIRECTLY at the receiver if you're laying on the couch watching a movie.

Third, the receiver, sticking out of the front of my HTPC, is a bit distracting from the overall gorgeousness of my silverstone case! I'd prefer a receiver that can be plugged into a rear USB plug and still be able to receive the remote triggers.

Does anyone have any suggestions of another HTPC remote I could try that would alleviate these problems?
Thanks!

Assassin, am I right that with an RF remote, you dont need to be pointed directly at the receiver?

Would I be better off with the Dell/Gyration remote you speak about in your hardware guide?

Yes, an RF remote does NOT require "line of sight". The Dell remote and receiver is extremely hard to find nowadays.

Weird - I'll wait to see if anyone else has the same issue. Side question, How can I change my password from the default one it sends... Clicking edit profile on the top does not bring up anything for me in IE or Chrome.

Thanks

I don't think that you can. I have never tried. I can change it for you manually though if you PM me your user name and password.

The blog software is a little limited in some of the things it can and can't do but I think it serves its purpose.

Okay thanks no big deal I have it saved anyways.

Thanks.

Btw, are you running on the 1.60 Bios? UEFI install?

Arggggh. Should have left well enough alone. Found I was using the older bios so flashed the new one. System couldn't find a file so WOULD NOT START. Oh well. There was a problem with the original install so just started over from scratch. It's not the Bios at fault. I had this same issue when I first loaded it but had patched it, somehow.

I'm up and running now but still have a few things to install (Shark, Ccleaner, IEspell...stuff like that.)

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get the blog to behave. I think I finally got it to surrender. Enjoy.

More coming when I have time.

I see that the motherboards that assasin recommended have SATA 3.0 (6 gb's/sec). Is this a worth while upgrade or is the 3 gb's good enough for a HTPC?

Most all of them have 2 SATAIII and 3-4 SATAII.

If you have a SSD or plan on getting one then SATAIII is worthwhile. Otherwise SATAII is just fine.

Question: What software do you guys use to monitor the temperatures inside your machine?

Also, what is typically the cause of a slight disconnect between the audio and video? Is there a way to diagnose the problem somehow?
I noticed it a lot on my macbook pro, but I just thought that it wasnt made for streaming high quality video. But I watched my first full movie tonight and there was a very slight, but noticable audio disconnect.

Oh, and I just posted this from my brand spanking new HTPC. Very cool to read a forum on a huuuge screen!

More XBMC guides tonight. I will keep churning them out assuming I have time.

They take a very long time to do.

Core Temp works well, there's even a Media Center add on if you want.

Mine had come with a 1.50 BIOS on it, which oddly enough isn't up on their website, but I had upgraded it to 1.60 before my first install.

So far my network issue hasn't resurfaced. I did uninstall all drivers (chipset, video, audio and network) and reinstalled the ones up on the ASRock site. Some where slightly different than the very latest available on intel's site. Not sure if that made the difference or if a reinstall fixed something.

I can help you with that since I have several legacy emulators installed in Gamebrowser.

Under the Configuration screen in Gamebrowser, add the N64 in the list of emulators that may be already listed, then under 'Emulation Settings' add the name and executable location of the N64 emu itself.

In my setup I simply named mine Nintendo 64 (under the that shows up in MediaBrowser under Games. I used an icon of the N64 pic to display in MB as well.

If this helps let me know, otherwise I will try to assist more as I can.

Does anyone know what might cause the above problems? Is there any software that can diagnose these problems or something?

Is this a movie that you ripped or that you acquired elsewhere? Is it on all of your movies or just a few?

There are various qualities of rips out there.

Assassin, A couple of questions for you on your Blog.

1. Are the previous guides ever updated or do you append into new guides? i.e. I've printed Guide 1. Do I need to go back and look for changes in guide 1 or is it pretty much set in stone?

1a. If you do update do you post somewhere that you've updated those guides?

2. Do you have any PDFs of the guides or should we just print the page? PDF's always format much nicer, that's why I ask.

3. What happened to guides 6 & 7? I noticed that 8 and 9 now have content but 6 & 7 are still blank.

Thanks

Josh

1. Yes, I update things constantly. I post on the frontpage and also in the contents the most recent things that have been updated. I don't keep a changelog as it would be large and I already spend way too much time on the guides as it is.
2. No, there will never be any pdfs offered. This is to protect the site and these files would be massive.
3. Please read what I wrote in the guide 6 and 7 tabs

This tab reserved for future guides and at this time serves as a placeholder due to limitations from the blog website and software.

The blog software does not allow me to go back in and add tabs that are "out of order". So if I want to keep things somewhat organized I have to plan ahead and those tabs are placeholders for upcoming additions.

This is a movie that i acquired elsewhere. I havent had a chance to test my other files to see if they all have the same problem.

Would it ever be the case that a computer "gets tired" so to speak, after playing a large file for a while and the audio would lag? Just a thought.

I've got everything but the Ceton set up now and it's working great! I got the Harmony One set up and it's working, but I desperately need a new battery. I'm going to try to call Logitech tonight to see about getting a new one. Since I wasn't able to link my Amazon Prime and a couple other sites to my WMC, I just put direct links in my taskbar and decided to buy one of these: Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard. Getting a couple emulators set up now. The Meta data program is not user friendly. You have to set up each game manually. Kind of annoying and time consuming, but it could be worse.

There is one thing I want to do in MediaBrowser, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Right now I have 4 tabs: Christmas, Movies, TV Shows, & Games. What I want to be able to do is either put links for the Christmas episodes of TV Shows in the Christmas tab or to be able to sort out just Christmas episodes of all the shows inside the TV Shows tab. I do not want to copy the episodes twice to get them in the new tab. I doubt it's possible to get them in the Christmas tab from the TV Shows tab, but I think it might be possible to sort out the Christmas episodes. Is there a genre sort in MediaBrowser? If so, does it sort individual episodes of TV Shows?

Nope. I can almost guarantee that its a bad rip or copy. There are a ton of them out there.

AVTechMan, what kind of input device do you use to play the N64 (or any emulated games for that matter)? Do you get a USB controller? Wireless? Or KB/Mouse?

I guess this is a general PC gaming from the couch question. Anyone?
