Onkyo HTS3300+Sony BDP-S370 + Samsung LN46B650

Hi ! I have connected my Sony BDP-S370 via HDMI as an input to Onkyo HTS3300 HTIB with output again via HDMI to Samsung LN46B650 TV. However, whenever I try to play Blu ray movies (Dark Knight, Spiderman 3) which have Dolby TrueHD encoding on my Sony bluray player...my receiver sees it as a PCM source.

Onkyo has the ability to directly play Dolby TrueHD, however it continues to see the input as PCM.

I am noob...Can anybody help with this issue please.. Thanks in advance !

Hi leozephyr, what are your BD player settings?

Check if "BD Audio Mix" is On (I believe its default setting), if so turn that to Off.

Also as I recall when first watching Dark Knight it was defaulted to the standard track, so I had to manually select the Dolby TrueHD soundtrack under audio setting. Don't have Spiderman 3 so not sure about it.

have had the same problem with blu ray discs and spent ages looking for an answer and i hope ive found it.
the problem was with the 6.1 sound on the blu ray discs but i think these settings work for all discs . i just checked normal dvds and br.
go to audio settings and from top to bottom like this.
PCM
OFF
OFF
DOWNMIX PCM
DOWNMIX PCM
OFF
AUTO
SURROUND
I CONNECTED IT TO A PHILIPS SOUND BAR AND THIS IS ONE OF THE CHEAPEST ON THE MARKET SO I HOPE IT WILL WORK FOR U AS WELL AS I SPENT AGES TO GET IT RIGHT BEST OF LUCK AND CHEERS FOR UR ADVICE.smile.gif
