About to install irrigation, anything new?

I am running irrigation now in a new home. I will have to buy the controller in the next few weeks.

This is not a big home control project, but I have Elk m1, a very robust CAT6 network, and have been working hard at IP-based control of AV.

I would like an irrigation controller that can link to my network - wired is fine, and that can be controlled through a web interface. Extensibility for water sensors down the road would be nice.

I don't need it to link to the Elk, but if there is an obvious value to it, I am all ears.

If you wire your sprinklers into your system, make sure you account for surge protection. Several years ago, lightning hit a tree in my neighbor's yard and struck one of my sprinkler valves. This in turn took out an entire set of LV relays (along with a bunch of other stuff). Since then I have installed inline surge protection to all of my sprinkler valves.

I went shopping for a web controlled system that was low cost and found one. The info and my brief review here: http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showth...ight=sprinkler

I would give it B+ overall. Simple software changes to the UI would make it A.
