92" Mitsubishi DLP @ CES!!! - Page 61

Just found that Amazon had 2 left. So I pull the trigger. Could not imagine a 92" TV for just above a quarter grand!
I saw that drop to 1...so you are the reason why. Congrats.

Thanks smile.gif It is actually OOS now from Amazon. Really good deal.

Now I need to get a stand for it ASAP.

Now need a stand. Not sure if IKEA LACK can hold it. its height is 13". Opinion? Thanks in advance.

Not sure about that stands capacity, but the TV weighs 194 lbs. 13" height should be fine.I built mine, it's 13 1/2". If my center channel was smaller I would have gone for 12". Our couch is kind of a low rider.

Built my own stand as well and with casters for feet the stand it 15" h, I sit in a large recliner and the 15" is perfect height.
And being that height it still allows me to put my center speaker on a stand just under the tv and it still sounds in the right spot.

Same with Walts and Paul's TV (add $100 you get two pairs of 3D glasses).

People on here are always bringing up height concerns when it comes to a TV stand. Understandable. But just remember, instead of replacing that perfectly good stand so that your TV is closer to being eye level. Just getting some of these is a great option also, if not better. tongue.gif

With these sets, who's problem is that it's too low? Seems most people need to find a way to lower it, not raise it to reach optimal height(unless you're very tall I guess).

I'm pretty sure his link was meant as a means to raise the seating, not the TV stand.
Thanks Auger, that's exactly what I meant.

Guess I should have been a bit more specific but I assumed that wasn't necessary for obvious reasons.

I bought some of those risers for my couches to raise them up 2 inches. Was a better solution for me as opposed to replacing my perfectly good stand with a stand that was 2 inches lower! biggrin.gif

How was it in regards to your feet touching the ground?

Go out and sit where you would normally sit when watching your TV. Now try and imagine if you can, how much higher your feet would be, if what you were sitting on were 2 inches higher than what they would normally be at.

If that winds up being too high for your feet. Check out this link for some options...

I've been eyeing the WD-92840 for a while, and am really thinking about buying with the current price drop.

Could somone that owns this TV post the dimensions of the stand part (footprint) of the TV (width x depth)? I don't mind if the TV hangs out past the edges of my current TV stand (which was made for a 62 inch Samsung LED DLP), but I'd like to see if the stand portion of the 92840 will sit on the TV stand without hanging over. I can only find the dimensions for the overall size of the TV and not the dimensions of the stand portion of the TV.

The TV stand I currenlty have is 19.5 inches tall, and my seating distance from the TV is 14 feet.

You can always find it on Mitsubishi site.

Anyone else besides myself and kmh71 having this issue??????????????

Screw all that. Just stick these on top of your sofa(for those of you that are height-challenged) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_9?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=bar+stools&sprefix=bar+stool%2Caps%2C355

For those that are really height-challenged. Stick 1 of these on your sofa instead.

Yeah, and if that doesn't work, give up. Go watch VHS on your 27" tube...

Paul's TV has it for sale price, plus 300 dolloar Restaurant.com gift card!

Wow, I woke up this morning and over a cup of coffee, DW blurted out for me to just buy the 92840 today. I'm wondering if it is because she was eyeing some shoes online last night? I am trying to withhold ordering until the 92842 is offered on sale (supposedly this week per online and locally) at Paul's. DW prefers the latest release of anything, but I'm hoping to weigh the cost/benefit first. I guess I can go ahead and order everything else today and hold off on the TV for a couple of days. Besides I'm not ready for it to be delivered which would be this week due to it being shipped from only <30 miles away. What should I do? I'm torn to go ahead and pull the trigger like DW said.

Anything you decide will be fine with me.

There. Now you have TWO permission slips! tongue.gif

You guys would not believe the crap an HHGregg rep tried to pull on me today. I was out with DW looking at accessories for the den and new furniture she has picked out. I decided to swing by HHGregg to visit the 92" floor model to hold me over until I have mine. biggrin.gif The rep came up to me and told me that...

(1) their $3200 price for the 92840 was the lowest. I promptly corrected him that they were actually $600 over the going sales prices with added bonuses from other stores. You should have seen his face when he pulled it up on his computer.

(2) He then tried to tell me that the other vendors' 840 models didn't have the center speaker like HHGregg. I had to explain to him that that was synonymous of 840 series. I had to layout the feature sets of each model series so he could understand the differences.

(3) He then tried to convince me that Mits is no longer making DLPs and the 840 was the last one. He said that HHGregg, BB, Sears (and he went on and on) and etc. where no longer going to sell Mits. Of course I explained to him the national press release of Mits doing a slimline of their reseller list a while ago which was a good thing.

(4) Next he tried to convince me that LED was the best and fastest technology out there and DLP didn't have a good picture and isn't fast enough for 3D. When he said that DW walked away shaking her head, because she knew that with that I was going to let him have it...which I did. His manager didn't even want to turn around and help his employee out of the hole he kept digging. I knew the manager from a previous visit and he and another employee were very knowledgeable and I enjoyed working with them. This guy today was doing a very bad job of acting like he knew what he was talking about even after I explained to him who I was and what I do before he started digging his hole.

It took me a long time to calm down from that. If you are going to work in an electronics store, then brush up on the field so you can be of some help to your customers. It was worst than BB floor reps. This is why places like Paul's, Walts, Cleveland and others will always be in demand and held in great regard. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. DW is still shaking her head as I type this out. tongue.gif

I scored some more brownie pts today by taking DW decorating shopping. It was brutal, but I will need those pts when she starts seeing how much I will have spent by this weekend. biggrin.gif

It is so hard waiting on word for the sale. Tomorrow I start rearranging the room for the TV, new speakers and furniture. The furniture will not be here until mid-September....DW is mad about that.
