I noticed those three websites for the new Samsungs all have the same setup and appearance. Cookie cutter companies.

Personally, I feel it will be MUCH better for all of us to wait until the stock is in at more reputable dealers and the sales have slumped. They'll start markdowns, sales, and the manufacturers of the better offerings will start including free bundles with the sets for a limited time to increase sales.

With the money I'll save by saving, I'll be able to buy a $1000 worth of other items.

I'm interested in the D7000/8000, which would replace my Samsung DLP HLR5078W. I've seen plenty of comparisons between plasma and LCD/LED-LCD, but none vs DLP. Does anyone have any info or links that they could share to help me out? I'm curious about how plasmas compare to DLP in regards to lag for gaming, handling motion, and overall PQ. Thanks in advance for any help!

Any day now .. says my rep over at Best Buy. He feels that around the 14th, the new line will be making a showing. The 64D8000 I hope will have none of the issues that the C8000 had. Like the BUZZING and or 3D ammeter failure (should be fixed with the bluetooth glasses)

I wonder if my glasses from last year will work on the D8000 series.

You'll need new glasses as the 2011 line works on bluetooth. The previous iteration used IR tech, so neither are compatible with the other.

You won't see a comparison because DLP is dying rear projection technology and not a flat panel, and there is only one Manufacture left for DLP (Mitsubishi). My last TV was a DLP and I loved it aside from the viewing angle (which is a HUGE issue) and the fact it's monstrous in terms of depth compared to a flat panel (can't wall mount it). I played plenty of games on it but couldn't comment on the actual lag since I'm no a hardcore game. What I did play (online and off) was fine in my opinion.

I'm coming off of an older Samsung HLN567WX/XAA DLP, and had been doing the usual fixes (new bulb last year), but recently it would shut off all the time. Started replacing other stuff (colorwheel), but think it's finally to a point where more parts aren't worth it and it won't come on.

I'm only a little bummed since I'd been really looking into the 2011 plasma lines from Panasonic and Samsung, but am without a main tv for a bit. My current picks would be the PN64D7000 or PN64D8000. However, I seem to recall the larger C7000/C8000 sets came out much later in 2010 (or with super short supply?)

If that's the case and the PN59D7000/8000 are really coming out within the next week or two, I'd be willing to settle for the 59. Does anyone have any intel on if the 64s would be likely ship much later?

only $200 more then the 59" D7000...not bad

Ya, with the 8000 you are just paying for the touch screen remote. The 7000 has all the features of the 8000, with much better aesthetics imo, for less money. That remote is useless for me. Its more of a hassle.

I also prefer the D7000 over the D8000 (silver bezel is horrible plus I too do not want the touch screen remote...I use a Harmony One)...but I did hear recently that the Local Contrast Enhancer feature exclusive to the D8000 is a new black filter...I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make but hopefully not too much

I thought it was something that was just going to produce sharpening artifacts in the picture?

are there any opinions on the PN43D450A2? I am looking to replace a 51" TV and this looks like a pretty good deal. Does it include any 3D glasses? If not, I'll probably look for a non3D model.

As one member has mentioned above, March 14th is a key date for Bestbuy as I work at one and the word is that March 13th every single 2010 model that will have a new revamped model will have to be off the wall by that date. I actually have just been allocated this mourning the PN51D7000 by Samsung as a replacement and I should have it in about a week. Im a little upset though that the new Samsung 3D Glasses look like they will not be out till mid April, so how am I supposed to test out if the 3D works ( Reason for replacement ) if I cant get my hands on some glasses.

So call the Samsung rep in your area and pester them about wanting to get a pair of loaner glasses.

When I worked in retail many many moons ago, the top sales people could quite easily reach out to the area reps from Sony, etc, and they would often help us out in situations like this.

I just bought the PN58C8000 for around 2150. Would you keep that, or return it and get the PN59D7000? Which seems to me, to be essentially the same thing EXCEPT you get an extra inch of screen! Given it's a few hundred more I'm guessing it won't be long it can be had at the same price as my 58C...

My 2011 Bluetooth glasses (SSG-3100GB) are scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Monday). I ordered them last week.

It looks like the d7000 is going to have a similar street price to the d8000. I wonder if one can infer that the LCE may not be that special.

Ditto what DocuMaker said. The glasses are currently available at several online retailers. I picked up a pair in anticpation of getting one of these new sets a couple months from now.

I don't think it is either of those. I just read in the last few days, that is was described as a 'micro-dimming' technology, IIRC.

Early on, many thought it was some kind of image processing, that would make it look artificial. Whatever the tech., it still might look artificial; in what way, we don't know yet.

AFAIK, we have known since CES, that the black filter is the same on D8000 and D7000.

Im got a little confused there for a minute. I thought they were only going to be one kind and it was the nice modern lightweight looking ones that they also have developed a wireless base charging station for. The made these with Austrian Silhouette, any word on those ? I have no use for the cheaply made plastic samsung ones. Hopefully BestBuy will get the new cool ones so I can get them there with my employee discount.
There will be three kinds (at least - as far as I know - maybe more later)...

I picked up a pair of the entry-level Samsung ones... might get some of the lightweight rechargeable ones later, like when more stores have them and prices come down. They are available at 4-5 places now, and in stock at the ones I checked.
