This suggestion merges the 1080i60 and 1080p60 into a single sub-resolution memory. Same for 1080i50 and 1080p50. We already do this for 480 and 576, so this is just an extension of the premise that one would really be able to use the same setup for both interlaced and progressive (and if you did not like this option just select the current list option). So the new list effectively adds 1080p50 and 720p50.
How does this new optional list sound? Are there input resolutions and rates you would like to see that are not on these lists?
Never imagined that I would get this sort of response
Seeing as the 60Hz users appear to be content with the standard settings (otherwise I would have expected similar requests a long time ago) then I would suggest that the optional list is more tailored to 50Hz, such as:-
480i/p (the odd US DVD, etc)
576i/p (our standard def broadcasts, plus UK DVD) (the auto reinterlace caters for poor 'p' material)
720p50 (not actually sure where this would come from nowadays, don't think its used here for broadcast, some devices offer it as an output option for non-Full HD screens - but I would prefer to let the Radiance have the straight source material if possible)
1080i/p60 (might as well keep some specific hi-def 60Hz)
1080i50 (our high def broadcasts, both terrestrial and satellite)
1080p50 (streamers such as Apple TV, etc)
1080p24 (most important, lovely Blu-Rays)
Other (the catch all for oddities)
I am hoping that some more UK users will respond, maybe Gordon Fraser can offer a suggestion - he really knows his stuff.
