Hey all,
Hey all,
I've been with Directv for 2 years now. I have 3 receivers (HR-21) with the SWIM system. My total monthly cost is about $95 and I have all the HD channels I can get with no premiums. I'm considering switching to Comcast because of several reasons:
1) The ondemand selections on Directv are awful, theres literally nothing that I would consider watching
2) I think the cost of the package is way to high for the channels I get
3) I cant get FIOS
4) I HATE the Directv HR21, its unbelievably slow, I dont understand that in the year 2011 I'm dealing with a computerized piece of equipment that takes 5-10 seconds to load a text based guide with no graphics.
I previously had Comcast and had to cancel service and report them to the BBB for a refund because the digital signal was degraded due to a bad drop to my house which I couldnt get them to fix. The techs they sent were incompetent, untrained, unprofessional and lazy, and many times didnt even show up. The phone help line was the same, often with hold times that assume I have nothing better to do than to wait on hold. What I'm wondering is has Comcast in the past few years enabled features like:
1) Can I watch DVR'ed programs in any room regardless of what box they were recorded on?
2) Do the HDDVR boxes have improvements to the speed I can look at a guide that one would expect out of engineers with college degrees in the age of quad core 4GHz processors that cost less than a month of service with one of these horrible companies?
3) Can I do a month long trial and cancel service?
4) Is the ondemand any good?
5) Can I set programs to record and manage the programs on my DVR through a PC? over the internet?
I appreciate any feedback from any of you guys who have struggled with both of these companies. Internet is not a concern because I get it through an excellent local company with 4 employees, and I speak to a CCNP who answers the phone when I call tech support.
Thanks!
