What hd-dvd players output SD and HD-DVD at 24P?

I got a LG PK550 recently which plays 24P input at 72Hz and needless to say I'm inlove with the amazing pans on Blu-rays.

I have about 100 HD-DVD and about 200 DVD and I want the same jitter free playback for them. What HD-DVD players can output 24P for SD-DVD and HD-DVDs? I read about a few Toshibas where the menus on DVDs were messed up because of the 24P, but that won't bug me as I'll be using the PS3 for anything with video content.

I think all the Toshiba players that can do 1080p can also do 24fps. At least if they have the latest firmware (version 4.0) installed. Those players are (if you live in the US):
HD-XA2
HD-A20
HD-A30
HD-A35

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think any do 1080p24 from 480i.

The HD-XA2 does. It's the only Toshiba that will output SD DVD at 24p, that I'm aware of. I've owned the HD-A35, and still own an A2 and an XA2 and I'm positive the A2 and A35 couldn't pull it off.

I hope this helps...Will

If you can find a Onkyo DV-HD805 buy it. You might want to look at the
samsung UP-5000...it's HD-DVD AND BLU-RAY player that's a great buy, however, you might want to up your budget to about $150.00 to score one.

I wasn't sure and XA2 would be the only one that has a chance at doing it somewhat correctly. I don't think there's a CE video processor yet that can't be thrown off by some of the crappy encodings on DVD.

the HD-A35 does 24p for DVD, BUT it does not do it well. I got the impression it wasn't doing cadence based ivtc. It would be fine for some discs but the majority of them were horrible.

The Oppo 83 and PC playback are the only two ways I have found that are acceptable.

The XA2 also has a problem with concert videos shot in 1080I. My Eagles video for example, exhibits a lot of judder if played at the 24P setting. I have to take the player out of 24P in order to play the video.

Hello Viking61,

I noticed you mentioned that your currently running on the enhanced firmware for your BDT100. Can you tell me where I can get it.

Thanks,

Johnny

Thanks, I noticed they wanted a donation for the firmware. What was the amount $usd you had to pay for it?
