Hopefully, it's just mistake. Or it could be that they are calling it MotionFlow 960 to trick people into believing it has 960hz. Hopefully not.

It definitely looks like this is the year Sony tells Samsung to make-way. That 929 is going to be one hot ticket. Will surely be an interesting year.

Got me thinking am I making the right decision with the vt30? My wife loves the soap opera look so I know she would perfer this over the panny. Anyone know of response time as I do enjoy playing ps3 at times.

But if you're talking strictly picture quality, I think you'll be very hard pressed to beat the vt30. Katzmaier has basically called the vt30 the best picture quality to date just after... wait for it... the Kuro. I'd say it comes down to do you want plasma or do you want led.

That's the real question, i'll be in a dark room head on with the tv also, so reflections, lighting, viewing angles aren't problems. The one thing that's getting me hung up on preferring the vt30 is that i had a kuro 111fd, and while the vt30 is nice, is just seems like i'd be downgrading. At least with the HX929, it would be something different. Not to mention the hx929 would have superior black levels to the vt30.

Yes it comes down to do I want the darker picture tones with better colors [plasma] or brighter colors & sharper PQ [LED]. I choose LED.

Plasma with the alrdy dark toned PQ is made even darker with 3D glasses. The SAmsung PN8000 will only do 3D on standard not vivid. Panny VT has no 2D-3D.

In my case, almost 100% of my viewing at home are movies and I like a more film-accurate look. My family and I view movies in the evenings when ambiant light isn't an issue so in total plasma is my preference. Can't miss either way with those two sets!

Nice glossy mirrored screen, typical of Samsung as well, get ready to see nothing but reflections.

Im considering this Tv for both my family room and man caveI(basement). In my FR i have 4 windows with 2 of them being on the side and 2 on the rear wall where the tv will be hanging. The room opens to light cmong from the living room windows and one large light overhead.

The basment set up has 2 windows on the rear wall with 6 overhead lights. The viewingf area opens to the rest of the basement. I will be controlling the light with dimmers in both rooms.

Should I go wiith this HX929 65 inch or a 64 inch plasma like the samsung d8000. Any help would be appreciated!

Go with the HX929. It will perform much better in a well lit room than the d8000. The HX929 is gonna be the set to beat.

I was told by Nick at ABT that the 55" will be may and the 65" september.

ABT is listing this as "discontinued" now. I also can't find mention of the set on Sony's site. Anyone heard if it's still coming out?

It is coming out. I spoke to someone at ABT. It's coming out in early to mid September. They list products as "discontinued" sometimes when the preordering reaches their limits. They said the only way to stop taking preorders in their system is to list the product as discontinued.

After seeing the new Elite tv from Sharp. I may just go that route. Did you see the black levels compared to the Kuro? Also, I read from one of the few techs who saw the TV noted that the blooming is less evident compared to the 929. It may be something you want to check out before buying. I certainly do at least!
