Just posted in the 3DFury topic, I Got my 3D Fury yesterday. Shipped from Taiwan Wednesday got it Thursday in NY. Incredibly fast service. Set it up and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. A quick post on their forum and had help within minutes! 3D is now working from my fat PS3 to my Qumi. I am very happy so far. Watched a bit of the IMAX Under the Sea disc and my wife and kids were amazed. This product really seems to work great with DLP 3D ready projectors. No flickering at all on mine. Even though the Qumi is rated terribly dim, the brightness isn't a problem in a dark room on my screen made of black out cloth.
I hear the IMAX discs are the best. I'll have to test a darker movie and see how it holds up. I guess I can always paint the screen to get more gain, but in a light controlled room, the 3D is great!

how much did it cost including shipping? is there a problem with sync? how big is your screen?

The only place to get it is directly from them, and it's $399 shipping included. Yeah, almost as much as the Qumi itself, but i dont see myself upgrading to a new projector anytime soon.
I have had no problems with it yet. Do you mean the DLP glasses going out of sync? If so i have not had any problems with that. Though it seems that with the cheap Sainsonic pair of glasses i got that my normal seating area is just on the edge of where the glasses lose sync with the DLP link. I just ordered 3 pairs of a different brand and will see if they have better range. My screen is 96".

Hey Stoney, forgot to ask you about gaming, have played a d3 game like uncharted 3? how was it? and have you tested a darker 3d movie? how was it?

Weird, thought I replied this morning but I don't see it.

Anyway. I tried the Motorstorm demo, and the 3D on that was awesome. The only 3D game I have is Arkham City but I heard the 3D is fake in that one. As for a darker movie, I skipped thru The Darkest Hour, and it is pretty dark, but not unwatchable at night with no lights on.
I really need to finish my basement. Gonna make half of it into a theater. Hopefully sometime this year.

Hey man thanks for all the info, now I want the damn thing, I mean if this thing works as you are saying, then I'll buy it because it's my only chance of getting a 3d image out of my qumi for the time being, and I want to play some ps3 3d games and 3d movies, good luck with your theater!!

Thanks, but hold up on the purchase. I've opened up a ticket with them, because I'm having an issue now. I've only noticed it on the 3D Blu Rays now. Last night we were watching Puss in Boots, and as the movie went on, there were these weird horizontal lines, that look sort of like combing artifacts. When dark and light images pass each other. It's hard to explain. I don't know if it is a problem with the 3DFury or the PS3. I have a launch 20gb PS3 and I've heard it has problems with the 3D. I'm thinking it's Tge Fury, because if I shut everything down for a few minutes, then start again, it disappears for a bit, but slowly returns. I posted a clip on YouTube for them to look at. Here it is :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiYkfENw1Cw

Well, they're sending me an RMA for an exchange. We'll see how this goes...

Hey Stoney Jackson,

I bought the HD Fury 3 and I am trying to configure it and my qumi for 3D Playback.
Can you give a quick write up on how you configured it.

Also what are your switches are set at on your HD Fury.
I will see if I get the same issue that your experiencing

I'm using my qumi with a 130" Da-Lite 2.8 HP screen so the issue you may be experiencing maybe more visible.

Thanks

Sherazta

First, the manual can be found here:

http://hdfury.eu/attachment.php?id_attachment=1 it has a lot of good info about this thing.

I was directed by one of the mods at their website to leave all dip switches at default except flip 7and 8 to "on"

Then press the frame rate button until you get to 720p @120 hz. The manual shows how many rates are cycled thru pressing the button. The only display you'll see is when the Qumi shows 120hz available by activating the 3D menu in the Qumi.

Hdmi from my receiver to the Fury, then out to the Qumi.

Let me know if you need anything else.

By the way I've tried Sainsonic DLP glasses and 3DTV Corp glasses, both from Anazon, and the Sainsonic produce a slightly better image.

I have a Qumi since yesterday and I´m really impressed and happy with, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to connect my tv cable box (scart) to the qumi. What sort of adapter do I need? I bought a Scart male-Vga female cable, but it doesn´t work!
Apologies for my English!

Vivitek will sell to the cable you need. Contact their customer service. People have said they give it out for free, but this is not true.

That´s really good news man, I´m happy for you and really jealous for not having one myself lol!! the thing that worries me is that since I live in Mexico the shipping cost may be higher much higher and what if the thing arrives broken or something? but I want it so bad lol, anyway good to hear that it works great.

Well, their price of $399 includes shipping anywhere, and if it's defective and you need replacement, you ship it back to them, and the shipping charge is paid by them. They emailed me a return authorization and DHL called me to schedule a pick up. DHL picked up the defective unit on Monday and I had my replacement in hand that Friday!

It's reported that the Viewsonic VP3D1 format converter will work with the Qumi. Just read through the user reviews at Amazon. On sale you can get it for about two hundred bucks and there was a rebate to get free DLP link glasses for free that may still be in effect. It works very well if you do not need all of the features that the 3DFury has.

Can someone from this forum confirm this? and rugrash, what others features(3Dfury) has that VP3D1 doesn´t?

Perfect for the bedroom. I have mine putting out a 70 inch screen right now. Looks great.

You would need an Hdmi to VGA converter like the HDFury 2 or something similar. On it's own, the Qumi can't do 3D over HDMI. I have corresponded with Vivitek reps on twitter and they confirmed this.
I was going off a user review at Amazon.

Quote "Just plugged in an hdmi from my 3d source to the vp3d1 and from there to the projector. (I have a vivitek qumi) " The 3d works great from my ps3 games, 3d blu ray player, and directv.

posted this as a thread by mistake:

This is driving me crazy! I have about 20 cables in my flat now and I would REALLY appreciate if someone could help me.

I have a himedia 900B 3d player linked to a Optoma 3d-xl via hdmi 1.4.

I also have a hdmi out on the hdfury - linked them to vga female convertor and then out to vga-universal IO cable which I just got delivered.

Can someone please help me get this going.

I'm getting No Source over these connections and I have no idea.

I would really appreciate any support on this as I'm about £400 down and still no 3d!

I bought mine in March and I was having the focus issue, I only could get about 80-85 percent of the screen focused throughout the screen. Finally I just give in and shipped it last week, and received it back already. I am now very impressed, the focus is 100% left to right and about 97-98 percent top to bottom. It seems a bit brighter with the same settings as my old one. I would say about 10 to 15 brighter, that is a rough guess. Other hand I am now more than satisfied with the unit.

FYI....they just have me send in the unit only with original box, and I received a new shrink warped box with all accessories, however it has a q2-w RFB on the box, as in refurbished. Now I have double of accessories in case something happens to the originals...cool
