some one asked why the amazon preorders page were pulled

Quote:

Vivitek Pre-orders will be available starting May 15th as we stated before.

Vivitek We asked them to pull it so the pre-order pages are all available to everyone on the 15th
post #244 of 2165
Well, it's now the 15th and here's what I've seen so far. Amazon has both white and black links back up. They list white as "Usually ships in 1-2 months" and the black as simply "temporarily out of stock." I checked on my order status from 3 May and it still shows as arriving between May 20-24th. I'm guessing that date will slide.

Best Buy didn't have their links back up yet and B&H allows for a pre-order but doesn't give any date estimates. Projector People gives an estimate of June for stock.

Im shooting for the first week of june to receive it although amazon has an estimated delivery date of the 24th - 28th for me i too ordered it on the 3rd will see.any later than that and ill be bummed I at least want to catch some of the Chicago Bulls Playoffs game on a 100 inch projection.

From Viviteks Qumi discussion board on facebook:

From what we understand, the Qumi products are arriving the week of May 23rd stateside. The actual shipping date for the pre-orders will most likely not happen until the following week or the first/second week of June. This is our conservative estimate, we don't know what/how the online retailers will be shipping out orders to those who have purchased it.

Got one on order from Amazon as well. I would like to go ahead and get a mount for it on order. Does anyone know what type of ceiling mount to use.

Thanks.

Here is a new video just uploaded on youtube. It's not much, but it is actually showing video in a semi-dark environment.

Thanks for posting that video series. The most interesting thing I thought was in the third video. It actually has an image of the Qumi with it's power supply next to it. I know many were wondering how big the power supply was. Sorry for the low quality of this image but it's literally just a cut from part of the paused video.

That video looks much better than I expected?
So you will need something like the Optoma 3D-XL or 3d vip gamer to get this to do 3d with a ps3?

Yeah, I'm sure you were just looking at the "video quality" In all seriousness, colors look oversaturated, but we are talking about an eight hundred dollar projector over a youtube video.

$800, Huh?

I would rather have oversat than muted colors. Surely they can be toned down. Just like all manufactures they boost colors to try to get you to buy it. We are like kids in the grocery store looking up at all the brightly colored cereal boxes when we were young.

Could be a function of the camera though.

Got an email from amazon saying that the qumi is delayed until late june and asked if I wanted to cancel.

I'll wait but it is a little disappointing...

That stinks! I haven't received an email from Amazon as of yet and my order still shows as arriving from May 20-May 24th. I ordered a black unit on May 3rd. I fully expect I'll get the email soon as they haven't gotten all of the out, but some small part of me hopes it shows up early next week.
Just got the Amazon email. It said June 5th.

What color and what date did you order it? Since the message you received is different from Robert Clark's, it might be good to know if some of these variables play a role.
I haven't yet received an email from amazon either my order still shows up as NOT YET SHIPPED and the same estimated delivery date of 24-28. i ordered the black. Why Is it taking Vivitek so long to ship out the shipments to the retailers im sure its the final spec product. Whats the holdup and that you tube vid of the qumi looks nice.

The moving enhancements were cool but what drew my attention after the third viewing was how the beach and colors looked.

It reminded me of that radio guy? Rodney? from The Fifth Element " it must pop, pop, pop, pop!, "

Have to admit that beach was enhanced by the other "video elements"

I ordered a black model on the 7th, it says May 26th delivery date.

perhaps there is a small batch that is already allocated? I guess we'll find out next week.

I ordered a black one on May 15th.

I wish Vivitek would have sent out a few to Projectorcentral, Projectorreviews, etc.

Some might say that I am over exaggerating but to me this represents a revolution to the industry. The first HD LED highly affordable projector. If I had one and did projector reviews for a living or a hobby I would drop everything and do a review ASAP.
I just wonder if this is considered a revolution to the general public? I know people like us find the projector to be of note and are excited to see a LED projector in this price range, but most people could care less. I only know of 2 other people in my area using a projector in their home, one owns the local Radio Shack.

I try to get others interested in projectors, but they see them as something that only movie stars and and basketball players can afford. Hopefully projectors with LED light sources will bring more consumers into the projector market.

I can't wait to hear how these new projectors perform in the real world.

Just got a second email from Amazon which states:

"Estimated arrival date: June 14 2011 - June 29 2011"

I also wonder if color makes a difference in availability (white iPhone 4?)

there have been a few 720p led pjs out for about a year, all under 1000$.Why would some one who has seen one of the 20 1080p led PJ,s, some that have been out since 6/09 get excited about this?

This will probably be it for led-Its just not bright enough for home use(for the average person). The high end will have 1080p dlp led but there wont be entry lvl 1080p dlp led. There may be some lcd 1080p led but i highly doubt it the way the samsung lcd led kinda flopped.

lasers are the future.

Anyone using lasers besides Casio for FP? I know Mitsubishi had the LaserVue DLP RP sets, and I was hoping we would see Mitsubishi bring LaserVue into the FP market, but I have not heard anything about it recently.
