That is a deal breaker...WAY TOO LOUD and 90 days on parts/labor translates into "might as well go with a bulb projector".

Yea we have seen the vids and its not loud ,no where near my m2 and it dont bother me.the warranty dosnt bother me.

Yeah, I like the fact its DLP as well. Love the color saturation from DLP.

One reason why I didn't get the $500 LCoS LED... Don't like LCoS.

Noise level..... 44 dB ... PASS even Casio quieter then this

the thing that makes me very wary about this projector is, by Googling other Vivitek products, the company has extremely poor customer support and hangs up on people if they have a problem, many people say "never again" to purchasing future Vivitek products and " this company releases nothing but junk", "stay away from them", etc.

Not too hard to believe. Qwest business (my business phone provider) hung up on me three times over one year when all I was doing was asking them to help me lower my phone bills that averaged $500 a month. They would put me on hold and never come back. The last time it happened, I put the phone on speaker and waited them out. Three hours later, at 5 pm, the line went live again and I could hear the shift change in the background and then the line went dead. That was the last straw. I terminated a 15 year relationship with them. My business phone expenses now run less than $100.

Who are they getting the LEDs from? Phlatlight?

In the video it really didn't sound that loud at all...

the trend towards slim slimmest makes sense for a brifecase, but not for a home-projector. no tiny whiny fan for me.
also the Marketing is long led-life, but will the electrics/case hold up, considering the low price

the pre production models dont seem loud at all,not any where near even 30db from what I have heard.

I'm thinking about getting one of these to replace a Proxima DP-6850. In addition to home theater, my intention is to use a projector as the monitor for my computer which would rack up the hours, so that's why I'm contemplating LED.

At 300 lumens, if I darken the room as much as possible would it work for this purpose?

The screen is a Doable board so it's about 8'x4' although there's only about 11 feet to the rear wall.

I saw both the HX300 and a boxy square version of the upcoming widescreen model mentioned above, at ISE last month. Bot were demoed in a a single dark boxed-out room. Each on its own high gain (3D) silver screen. And I think they lacked light, so they require an high gain screen, even in a darkened room. Both projectors kept swapping places as the dimmest/brightest looking of the two on show.


The HW300 will be slightly less expensive than the HX300, Expected deilivery was April. I believe I saw it specced at 300 not 250 lumens max. The HX350 is sold and shipping in Asia, not sure if it offers 350 lumens or is just a highered featured HX300.

Probably overlooked this Qumi one at ISE, if they had it on show. Vivitek had two larger units to demo a soft-edge blending solution being developed to be included in those units. And a 720P unit with build in 2D to 3D processor (3D looked horrible to me), but this thing being a pocket projector is so easily overlooked. Might ask them I noticed they now have an office here in Hoofddorp (town right next to the airport), from Vivitek's ISE press release I picked up. The direct line to Delta should allow them to undercut LG. Casio was so right to cancel its 200/300 lumens LED protables, announced last year, there is no money to be made in them, indeed.

Edit: I found an cellphone produced clip from ISE, showing it, that toggled my memory. I did see it, it was at the other end of the two larger blended projectors. Like the LG it therefor must have been fairly silent, as I didn't hear it.

The 1280X800 and pricepoint (hopefully 500 euro or less) make it an interesting unit. Though it might still be better to wait a year and pick up an Epson TW-3200 when closed out around 800,- euro;-). Its pre-descessor the TW-2900 closed out for 800, as well last month. That way you get 1080P and an 2000 hour bulb warranty and decent light-output (700 calibrated, 1500 in full blast mode).

I spoke with Douglas from Vivitek today. Incidentally he was very cool customer service wise. If people have had bad experiences it could just depend on which employee they're speaking to.

Is this supposed to be the best LED projector coming out in the near future within a reasonable price range? My budget is about $1000, absolute max maybe $1500, but $500 for a projector sounds really good to me.

Douglas said it should work if the room's darkened as much as possible. What I'm thinking is that I could purchase something like the Qumi and use it until something better comes along, which may not be that far off.

I also saw a bit about the Casios that are much brighter and use lasers, but it seemed those units weren't rated that well overall.

Again, I plan to use this quite a lot since it will be a computer monitor substitute. That's why I'd like to avoid a new projector with a bulb that would have to be replaced.

One last thing, Douglas said since it's LED it should be more equivalent to 500-600 lumens or something, although I forget exactly what he said. I'm planning to demo a unit before purchasing to see what it's like.

Any thoughts?

The led has twice the perceived brightness to the human eye-I forget what its called
,something very german. so 300 lumen looks like 600.

I have the casio the 240 laser/led and it is amazing,the bright ness, zoom ,size and one of the largest color ranges of any PJ(cine4home).I admit there was some wierd backlash from some portable led owners(lumen envy=LOL) who had never used one in the casio thread.

I also own the 50 lumen pt100 and the aaxa m2 -110lumen.I plan on getting the qumi.It will replace the aaxa probably,I dont mind a darkish room and a fullsize PJ is like a little space heater in Los Angeles in my favorite room13x13ft.

Really what I would like to do is make the best purchase between the balance of lamp life vs cost vs image quality. I'm also interested in 3D, particularly if this 2D to 3D conversion actually works as Vivitek claims, but then of course the Qumi doesn't have all that much brightness.

The casio is loud in non eco mode,but ok in eco,mine dosnt buzz like some,I think they are defective units.

The qumi is dlp link(3d) and may get a nvidia cert.-I have a viewsonic I bought for 3d and its 2500 lumens and it gets dim in 3d -half its lumens,that said I also own a 50 and 110 lumen PJ witch is very usable and the qumi will be at 150 lumen sooooo...it will be interesting to see.



as far as better.....the casio is probably better by a little(its sooo bright),but if i had never owned a pj i would go with the qumi .

Get the qumi and save up things are only getting better.But...there is a acer led/500lumen 720 p out in a few months hold out a little longer.If its 500$ish that will be great.I have only seen a glimps of it,and cannot get any info other than from TE.

What I might do is go down to Vivitek and see if I can compare a 300 lumen to a 1500 lumen projector, which I'm guessing is what the Casio would be in Eco 1 mode.

If the Qumi would work it definitely seems like the best deal at $500, but I need to get the purchase right the first time.

Is there a link to the Acer press release? What is TE?
