I'm thinking the 2nd A/D converter box isn't required, because I believe my TV will only allow a analog signal in PIP.
Your TV does indeed have an ATSC (OTA) tuner, so you certainly can do all three things at once using an antenna signal to your TV (for the PIP), along with two, other ATSC tuners, like the one on the Magnavox and another D/A converter box - or two converter boxes - one by itself, and one hooked up though the Panasonic. The EH75V's IR blaster can control some converter boxes to change the channels for unattended recording. The Channel Master CM-7000 (available from SolidSignal.com and Fry's Electronics) is one of the easiest to set up and use with the EH75V's IR blaster.
It might be a bit wiser to upgrade to the 515, with the built-in, ATSC tuner rather than buy a second converter box, though, because not only will it be easier to use than the Panny IR setup (which may not even turn out to be 100% dependable), but you will be a little more future-proofed, because none of the current US or international HDD/DVD recorders have the IR blaster feature, for when your Panny finally bites the dust - although, you may still feel you got your money's worth by then, and you may be able to still use or sell the extra converter box after that. And loving the Panny enough to want to keep getting it repaired if at all possible is certainly understandable (coming from someone who actually owns one, too). You'd be looking at maybe a $170.00 difference in price if you go with the $250.00 Maggie 515 over a second, $80.00 Channel Master.
You wouldn't have to have a Channel Master for the "3rd" tuner though - you could go with something like this for half the amount: http://www.amazon.com/Zinwell-ZAT-97.../dp/B001DVZXC0
. But the CM-7000 would be recommended for using with the Panny's IR blaster.
(Note: the CM doesn't have "analog", RF pass-through, while the Zinwell does. Also, you'd want to hook up the CM to the Panny through s-video. The best output the Zinwell has is composite.)
