Hooking my Gaming PC to an Onkyo HTS5300 Home Theater System

I just need to know if I can plug this:

from this this port (what i believe to be SPDIF out/digital out):

to this digital in port on the Onkyo HTS5300 Home Theater System:

and have it all work fine and dandy with amazing sound? Obviously I will need to hook the system up and I can do that, I just need to know if this cable will work between my computer and the Onkyo. Thanks for your help!

On another note, if I just plug an HDMI cord from my video card, into the system, will I get actual 7.1?

If your video card supports 7.1 audio, I would suggest the hdmi...
