I contacted the seller concerning this one. I thought it was a DMR-E85H from 2004. The seller confirmed that it is a DMR-E80H from 2003. Since I'm not really interested in a 2003 model I didn't think to ask about the hard drive size.

The difficulty servicing the 2003 DVD Drive is certainly a consideration:

To me another major consideration of the pre '05 Panasonics is they didn't have full D1 resolution for LP, only SP and XP for preset speeds. I've been told they switched to 1/2 D1 using FR somewhere between SP and LP but since I've never owned one I can't say for sure exactly what setting of FR caused the switch. Since I really like the option to get 4hrs/DVD (or 3hrs at a minimum) a pre '05 probably isn't for me. (If someone knows the magic FR setting please let me know and I'll update my Panasonic features thread).

I've already got a great SP only machine(Toshiba XS-35) that I rarely use because 2hrs 19 min. (Using MN3.2 I believe) just doesn't cut it for me. I must admit though the Toshiba is even slightly better than my Panasonics when in full D1.

I ended up paying $146.00 after shipping and fees. I was able to use the DVD burner from the one. Will try to clone the hard drive eventually to see if it is resurrectable. The other one seems to work just fine. For some reason it says tivo basic, but seems to have internet options??? that my other ones do not. The software version is older than mine. It still has recorded shows on it. I need to get a network adaptor for it though.

I have two Humax 400's (one still sealed in box, thought the DVD drive would work in my 810's) and a Pioneer 531H (no remote, and it sat in the box for over a year, before I figured that out), if any one wants to make an offer (PM).

In the last 2 or 3 minutes of an auction, these usually shoot up to about $160 - $180. I hate eBay as an auction site, with automatic bidding and last minute price spirals. I prefer Buy It Now.
