Thinking of buying an Epson 8700 projector to pair with my Denon AVR2310 receiver.

Here's my situation. So far I have the ABT-2010 processing abilities in my Denon rx to feed my 720p projector. The projector's scaler was awful.

Now I am thinking of upgrading to an Epson 8700 1080p projector. It uses the Silicon Optix HQV Reon VX processor.

My question is this...do I turn off all video processing in the receiver and rely exclusively on the Reon chip in the projector?

I do realize that some functions are disabled in the ABT, but I have been pleased with the image.

My most important question. Is the Reon considered the better processor? Sorry about all the questions, but I figure you all would be the group to ask. My last outboard processor was my DVDO iscan plus around '99. My, how things have changed.

Thanks!

I ordered the projector today. Does anyone have an opinion on the original posting?

I don't know if this will be of any help, but I have the Epson 8500 projector, and I'm using a DVDO Edge as my switcher/processor -- which I bought so that I could keep my old Harman Kardon tuner that doesn't have HDMI. I use the EDGE's optical audio output to feed into the tuner, while the HDMI video goes from the EDGE into the projector. The results are fantastic, and I couldn't be happier. And the DVDO Edge is now available for under $400 from some sources.
