Fantastic news and will be a blind buy but am a non believer until Universal itself says so.

Don't have high hopes for the quality of this one. The DVD was a piss poor transfer and don't have much faith in Universal on this one.
Agreed....this title will probably look like sh*t as they will just use whatever existing HD transfer is lying around and DNR & EE it.
Push it to the limit!
Blind Buy for sure
If it's a high quality transfer I'll be all over it.

Don't get your hopes up.

Already broke the news on this a few weeks ago - if everything goes as planned Scarface should be released in some European territories as early as late march.

I'm not expecting any miracles from Universal, let's just hope it's somewhat like Carlito's Way.

they should include the 30s original version as well

We got a date in Sweden. 2011-06-08.

Considering this is Universal, the original version will be included... as a limited time only, BD-Live streaming feature.

Universal has 'remastered' Scarface for this release - not getting my hopes up.
At least it looks like they're including the original sound mix with the original sound effects this time.

This seems like a pretty loaded release so it would be nice if Universal could finally join the other major studios in the realm of properly restored catalogue titles on Blu-ray with this. But, we all thought that would happen with BTTF as well, so there's not a chance that I'll order this before seeing some screenshots.

I hope they do this justice... and I hope that coverart is not final. I usually end up watching this when I find it on and it never fails that I start laughing with the hotel scene... Scarface and Kermit the frog

*sigh* To bad the original audio track is lossy...
Classic movie. I would love to own it on Blu-ray. Hopefully they do it the justice it deserves. I'll wait for reviews on the PQ before I commit to buying.

That cover art is terrible, BTW. Why not just use the original half black / half white art that is synonymous with this film?

Any word on a release date?

According to blu-ray.com, the set will include "a DVD of the original 1932 Scarface."

The trailer already shows DNR and EE .

This is more than likely going to be another BTTF.

So now people are judging the likely quality of a Blu-ray transfer from a YouTube clip? LOL!

But seriously, it's Universal, so yeah, I agree that it'll probably look mediocre.

To cool. Placed my order for it before it goes the way of the dodo bird and the BTTF Tin set
post #27 of 154
I have absolutely zero faith in Universal when it comes to this title. Every single release they've put out has had **** for both audio and video. It's just been awful. This film needs a 4k restoration ala Taxi Driver, but it's never going to happen.

Expect a marginally clearer version of the same transfer that's already been put out there so many times, with some extra EE and DNR slapped on and the same crap soundtrack.
Great news! It will look and sound better than it ever has at home.
I will be watching it on my tv, for those above that "enjoy" movies through a microscope and already have opinions on a release nobody has scene, well sucks to be you.
