Next Gen SSX on the way!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 8

Yes, definitely. However, setting it up for AVSers only might be difficult. I think the only real way to do that is to create an "AVS-SSX" account, and AVSers can friend that account, and then create the event with the AVS-SSX account as friends-only.

I think you should create one race and one trick event, personally . For both racing and tricking I'd prefer a level that doesn't have huge amounts of bottomless pits or trees or rocks... you know, those tracks that make you want to pull out all of your hair one hair at a time. And I'd suggest no gear for racing. Make sure to make it last long enough and give some lead time beforehand so people can plan for it.

For racing I'd say anything but JT2 personally since I am totally burned out on that track. Some suggestions: Boris/Diamond Back, Wakefield/Last to Hit, Makalu/Serenity or Trickypedia, Silverthrone/Unsanctioned.

For tricking, again anything but JT2 and probably excluding Serenity since that gets a lot of play. I don't really have any great suggestions here since I am more of a racer than a tricker.

Last, while I like the idea, I wonder how many people we could pull in from here for such an event. We probably want to have at least 10... not sure how many AVSers from the PS3 side are still playing regularly enough to want to participate?

FYI, from merquerycity.com a new update has gone out to change the way Global Events brackets are calculated. Diamond is no longer a singular individual, it's the top 10 (I think?) percent. So it will now be actually possible to get Diamond on a Global Event

Kind of a bummer, but you're probably right about not being enough players. I tend to only see about 1 other person from here playing and a friend of a friend (Bongpig, setting all kinds of scores I can't touch) in global events.

Setting up a unique user id is a good idea, but the stupid game won't let you just walk in and create a global event with that ID, you have to play the game from scratch. Might even have to buy another online pass, though I didn't try to connect to EA servers once the id AVS_SSX couldn't create a global event I just backed out.

I'm going to create a Trick event for Curnoe's with level 5 equipment, no rewinds and no gear. Figure maybe a 200K entry free and see where we get. My PSN ID is below. Add me as a friend if you're interested in an AVS event.

Ugh, I need time to play. Been insanely busy with work/life lately
post #215 of 235
I just picked this up last week and have started getting into it. Trying out an event sounds cool.

Best Buy sale appears to be over but Amazon has it for $29.99 now for anyone who is interested.

I can't emphasize how much I enjoy this game. It is challenging, deep and rewarding.

Same here. It has only been since Sat for me, but man I need a fix!

Also, has anyone seen the teaser puzzle that has been going on this week? It is a tease of things to come for SSX and the final two pieces will hit tom. Looks VERY exciting! ..............

Go to about the 9th post down on page 11 for the fully updated puzzle up to this point.

I created a custom Trick It event on Curnoe's Mustache. I haven't had a chance to make a similar race event.

The event has a level 5 limit, 200K buy-in with normal distribution, no rewinds, it lasts a week and is open to my friends and friends of friends.

My PSN ID is below, add me if you have not already and join in the event. I am thinking of maybe doing a few others. If we start to get some action.

Shorter time? Higher/lower buy in? Winner take all?

I should be able to pop on tonight and give it a go

Geez, I take a couple week break and Abaddon beats most of my race records...LOL. At least I got ~250 ghost wins for my trouble!

I started taking my records back, but I think I'm going to have to surrender on Curnoe's -- I can't beat you consistently on the first part of the track, and that critical transition onto the tree bridge is so flaky that it would take forever for both of those things to line up for me. Oh well.

Less than 48 hours remain in the Curnoe's Mustache custom Trick It event.

5 Players, all fairly close together. The diamond score is reachable. One participant, bongpig, has posted some ridiculous scores in other events we've competed in, and currently sits in last place. I expect that to change.

Get in, set your score and try to hold on for the finish.

Any suggestions for track/set up for the next event?

You're welcome! And welcome back... as Jamie Lannister says, "the competition was beginning to get a little stale...". I would guess most if not all of those came from me, but funnily enough I would estimate that around 1/3 to 1/2 came on Trick or Survive events. In those I wasn't trying to beat your score, just trying to get gold, but you were next above me on my personal friend leaderboard.

I'll grant you the log is really frustrating... really frustrating... but I don't think Curnoe's is as bad as Unsanctioned. It took me literally two hours to beat your score on that track, and another hour to top that with a pretty good score that might hold up. I don't know about you but that track for me has 101 different ways to screw up in the top half alone. I pissed away at least 10-15 really good runs in the bottom half too.

Tell ya what, jh... I'll keep Curnoe's... you can have JT2 .

You did get a pretty nice start. But there's room for improvement at the end

Found a nice new line on Old School. Check it out -- I think you'll like it.

DLC comes out tomorrow, I am pretty excited to get some new tracks (and the retro characters are pretty cool too)! Someone on Merq has an early preview and took some pics http://imageshack.us/g/687/201204301501501.jpg/.

It's good timing for me also as I finally managed to get medals on all explore drops -- mostly gold but I have a handful of silver and bronze I will need to tidy up at some point.

Looking forward to Mt Eddie. 7800m is the longest drop which is nearly 50% longer than Serenity! Nice! The name of this run is classic......The Big Wachowski!

Just a heads up we are pushing the latest GE settings out tonight. Probably very late, I'm guessing around 2am PST.

So starting tomorrow there will only be GE's on 3 ranges: a 'high-roller' range, a casual player range and Mt. Eddie.

There will only be @10 events per range, mostly on feature peaks to begin.

You should see a banner in the main menu that will take you directly to the highest entry drop on the high roller range.

The featured ranges will change every day, as will the events on Mt. Eddie.

Mt. Eddie will have a mix of cheap and high entry fee events, and always a low-level gear restricted event that should be useful for new characters who you haven't levelled up yet.

Not 100% sure but there may also be some extra XP floating around in GE's this week. If not, soon I hope.

That's all. Hope this works out well!

For those who are interested, here is the schedule for week one:

Tues: Alps (high), Alaska (low)
Wed: Hima (high), Siberia (low)
Thur: Rockies (high), NZ (low)
Fri: Siberia (high), Antarctica (low)
Sat: NZ (high), Hima (low)
Sun: Alaska (high), Rockies (low)
Mon: Patagonia (high), Alps (low)

Also, the new events begin as old events end so it is a gradual rather than a sudden rollover. So for the first 24 hrs or so there will still be some straggler events around in other ranges until they end.

Finally, we have fixed our week-long free event to ensure it will hit 50K again each week starting this week. Sorry it missed hitting that the past couple weeks!

FYI new DLC packs are up on PSN early, if you search...

(A tuner pack is where they adjust things server-side; in this case time of day/weather and the O2 effect on the Everest tracks. I am pretty excited about the latter as I barely touch the tracks since the O2 mechanism is so cumbersome. It's almost like getting two whole new tracks!)

The O2 change is a HUGE plus! I was never planning on touching these levels again once I got my gold, but now can go back and enjoy them.

The new GE system is great along with the double XP going on this weekend. I took 3 of the classic characters up to level 11 and made about 150mil in the process last night.

Still have not tried Mt Eddie, but will ton or tom.
