The "Official" Optoma 3DXL Owner's thread - Page 18

I just received this E-mail form Tru3D. I am not sure what this means, but there is still hope.

Dear valued TRU3D customers,

I wanted to write to you quickly that Optoma has not contacted us yet with our product delivery date. We were told that it would be the end of last week but still have no UPC or SKU to order with. We received a 1 line email from Optoma Friday that we would find out today but as its now 6:00pm Pacific time have not heard anything further.

There are rumors on-line that they will be delaying the product til April. We can not confirm or deny these at this time. There is also informaiton that one distributor has accesss to the first batch. We are in contact to confirm that they have stock on hand but it is unclear if these will be allowed to be released to on-line sellers. We are working on all fronts to try to resolve these issues.

I apologize we don't have more clear informaiton but that is where we are at this time. My team and I will be working to get this resolved ASAP.

Note: your credit card will not be charged until shipping begins.

Thank you for your extream patience and support of the 3D market

Just received the same email..

I talked to him earlier...he is just being honest with everyone about what is going on and what information he has...he is trying to be open and honest as possible, seems he ordered some from optoma and they told him he would have them a week ago, then any day now, then they didnt answer him at all, now people are saying avad has them all, he is trying to get some as quick as possible so we can get them. again I will say optoma is making a mess of this it seems.
I'm sure top men are working on this.

Who exactly you may ask?

Agreed.

I am sure they shall redouble their efforts.

This is ridiculous in my opinion. If theres a shortage they should have known before now. It's not like these projectors are mainstream. Look at how many wii's that were pumped out when deadlines were made. This is simply ridiculous. Poor marketing and public relations imo.
Also, possibly poor communication from the product management team to other divisions. The product management team surely can't be proud of this rollout.

Just curious on the power specs on the european 3D-XL models. I pulled the beleive specs and was wondering if you ordered one from Europe would it work with our 120v 60hz pwr? or would an adapter be needed? I beleive Europe is 240v

Power Supply 100 - 240V, 50 - 60Hz (UK/EU Compatible)
Power Consumption 20W (<1W standby)

update....

I think i may have found my answer but if someone can confirm would be great.. later downon the specs page it has this
Standard Accessories UK/EU Power Adapter,Quick Start Guide, CD User Manual, WEEE Card

so it appears it comes with a power adapter for Europe , so it must be standard for North America out of the box

UK and mainland Europe have different electric fittings. As far as I know the UK/Euro model 3D-XL has an adapter with interchangeable UK and Euro plug fittings.

I really appreciate Consignia's true honesty and advance warning on the situation. I kept my preorder with them and will wait until they receive their stock as I am positive they will be first to receive the Canadian stock. Thanks again Jay for your honesty and advance warning of the situation that everyone is now going through. You have won a customer for life here!

Also, you need to be careful about the 3D broadcast interfaces. European models are set to work with Skyhd and US models need to interface with Directv, Dish, and the cable companies, etc. I don't know how different these interfaces would be (US vs EU) but Directv requires a supported 3D display model.

I have thought about ordering a EU model also but I will be using D* and I want to be assured this interface will work.

I won't repeat it here, but geesh did this guy read his own email? It's full of spelling errors. For a CEO, it doesn't give me much confidence. It looks like a one man show running out of a garage. I did not receive the email and I went through Google.

Edit: Looks like I did get the email. Just came through the server...

You are very welcome. We do monitor this forum and appreciate the kind words. We are glad to have you as a customer!

We received word from Optoma that our 3D-XL order might be arriving a bit sooner then early April now but we aren't going to officially post anything until we have actual shipment confirmation with tracking numbers from Optoma! This has been a very long and frustrating process for us as well and hope to see these units shipping very soon!
I also received the email from Tru3D.

I do not understand why there is so much confusion about the availability of the 3d-xl. Either there are units to sell or there are not units to sell. It would be better if Optoma would just say that they won't have any until April or that they are definitely shipping now.

Right now this is a hot item for Optoma and you have got to have product to get the money. If ypu have units, get them to the resellers. If you do not, let us know and we will wait. By most accounts, this is an excellent piece of equipment.

Serenity now!
Wow Guys!!! You need to take a timeout (no disrespect intended).

I've gotten leads on three different Optoma 3D-XL alternatives (to demux the HDMI for dual projector use), and all three are giving me the same story - product in development or testing, due out shortly.

I think the logjam will break before long and you'll have your 3D-XLs as well as a number of alternatives to choose from.

Hang In There.

Asking people to be patient? Are you new to this planet?

What you fail to understand is that my friend just showed up at work yesterday with a copy of Killzone 3 and the shiny awesome gun controller.

I know...hate to be slightly off topic...but Killzone3 with the sharpshooter is really fun and realistic (ALMOST...as good as a mouse but not quite there yet).

I can't wait to try it in 3d on my 120" screen with sharpshooter and 7.1 surround sound.....

I called AVAD in Charlotte, NC. I asked if the 3dxl was available for the dealers to order yet. The representative said "they" (I assume he meant AVAD as a whole) have not recieved any stock from Optoma and had no ETA for stock.
Arrrhhhgggg
I also spoke to AVAD and this is true. They have not received any stock and do not have a delivery date.

lol, dont forget legs crossed with fingers touching...might as well get some aroma with candles burning too!
This has to be a nightmare for the retailers. It seems as if Optoma is just playing the carrot game with them.
It's easier for me to say.. I have both my theater and the living room going in 3D already. I can imagine those of you that have not gotten any 3D yet because of waiting for this product.

The force may just be with me right now.. My Aver Media HD-DVR card only works like once in every fifty power ups and last weekend, Friday night it worked on the very first power up!! Then again maybe not? I was actually going to leave it running and not turn it off, but of course the PC crashed mid day Sunday. But two days of use in a row is the most I have gotten out of that Aver Media card in like 9 months.
I got word earlier from someone @ AVAD they are expecting them in early March hopefully to distribute to their dealers...
Still have them on Ebay from the UK, they do not respond from email for shipping costs, dont know about the power issue.
