Nope, the films will each be spread over two bd's. Each movie will have three dvd's of docs: the first two discs will be the appendices from the EE dvd's, the third will be the Costa Botes doc from the "limited edition" dvd's.

Tell me about it.
I would've (eventually) picked up the TE bd if it didn't have absolutely horrendous watercolor DNR that actually made it look worse than a ******* hd broadcast! Now they're going to give us the extendeds spread over two discs with what will surely be stellar PQ .... and those of us who prefer the theatrical cuts will still have to wait.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me as long as we eventually get a proper remaster of the TE. There's the part of my brain saying "oh, just pick up the TE and live with the DNR." Yeah, but y'know what? I really shouldn't have to settle for sub-par picture quality. Not when a broadcast looks better. Not when they have 50 whole gigs to work with and only use 40 of them. Not when this is THE LORD OF THE RINGS we're talking about.
This upcoming release will surely please fans of the extendeds, and it's nice that Warner threw in the Costa Botes doc (the only extra I'm yet to see).
... But this LOTR fan still ain't sold. I'm waiting until I can get the ultimate set, with a transfer that does the TE justice this time ..... and no seamless branching! You hear that, Warner? I shouldn't have to get up and change the disc if I just want to watch the shorter version.
