Why does my lg px950 look so weird?

I just bought the 50 inch px950 from Lg after all the great reviews. Out of the box I am just not that impressed. My previous TV was a 3 year old sony 1080p LCD so i thought this would blow it out of the water. The picture looks almost blurry like i am looking at a 720 instead of 1080 source. When the picture is moving on the screen it just does not look clear, I am not past the 100hr mark yet but was wondering how normal this was? Motion just looks much worse on this TV and I am severely disappointed, I calibrated it according to cnet's setting which do make it look better. How could i think the old lcd looks so much better?

Are you using a blu ray player to make sure it isnt the source?

Yes i have used a blu ray player to make sure its not the source. The images just look like they are sticking like they are running together causing it to be blurry. Its not anything that screams this is broken, its just not as nice looking or High Def looking as my old sony

Your just probably used to LCD's sharpness. Plasma look softer and more realistic.

Sounds like you like the artificial look of LCD. You might want to swap it for one.

It's all in getting the settings right.

after applying cnets in depth settings it does look a lot better, i just dont get why lcd is "artificial" if edges pop like they do in real life whats the harm? Will definitely keep the set and hope i just get used to it

I would just say to make sure that energy saving is off, dynamic contrast is off and noise reduction is off. From your discription it sounded like noise reduction was on. Each input will have individual settings so if you adjust expert1 for your blu-ray and then switch over to cable expert1 will need to be set for that input also. My px950 is very sharp with both sharpness settings at 50 as verified with two different calibration discs.
