Mitsubishi 3D Firmware Upgrade Problems

Thread Starter
Hi - I've been trying to apply the 12.0.7 firmware upgrade for my Mitsubishi WD-73837 for several days now with no luck. The TV came with version 11.0.0, which it still has. It doesn't have an ethernet port so I need to do it from a USB key. I've tried three keys, but no luck. On Monday I'll call Mitsubishi about it but am wondering if anybody else has had trouble getting the firmware update to apply. I followed the instructions exactly.

Thanks

Where did you get that? I just downloaded and installed what I thought was the latest firmware for the 7 series 11.0.3 Are you trying to install the 8 series 3D update? If so it will not work. Your tv is a 73837 the update is for a 73738 it goes by the last three numbers. I saw some confusion about this in another post. Your are lucky you did not get it to work, the other guy bricked his tv.

The above poster is correct - the latest firmware for the xx837 series is 11.03... the 12.xx series software is for the xx738 and 838 models... and unless you are having specific problems there is no real need to upgrade your 837... the new firmware for those does not add any new functions, simply fixes some unspecified bugs.

Ok then forget the firmware upgrade. Any chance the mitsubishi 3D starter kit will work with that TV?

the starter kit will work with your TV with or without an update.

however, you should update your TV to the correct software version.
its pretty simple.
visit: http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/support.html
click on the "Software Updates" small white text (not that big green thing)
enter you actual TV model number
follow the instructions on screen.

if you install the wrong software. Such as installing the 837 onto the 737, then you should be fine to just reload the correct version.
I tried it and it works.

I just received my 73838 yesterday and I am unable to to update the f/w as well. It currently has 12.04 on it. I first tried the USB method to update without success, then I connected it to a wired ethernet connection (where I assume that it will automatically update???).

When does the update process start? Or do I have to initiate it somehow?

you should read the instructions that came with the software download.

if you're too lazy, then just verify internet is connected, and power off the tv for 30 minutes.

To be fair, I did not notice the instructions saying this. After unpacking the file to usb. Another file that was put on the usb needs to be unpacked as well. At least that is what I found with the 11.03 update. TJMD-Thats good info to know that you can revert back on the firmware with out a service call.

The 12.07 update is ONLY for the 738/838 series period. No other Mitsubishi TV series prior to the 2010 738/838 series will get the 3D firmware update. Bottomline it is "impossible" to apply the 12.07 3D firmware update to your Mitsubishi WD-73837, you are very lucky to you did not brick your WD-73837. Mitsubishi clearly stated that only the 738/838 series 3DTVs will work with the 12.07 firmware.
