CRE X1000 Worlds First 3 LED 3 LCD 1080p Projector..Anybody heard of these guys? - Page 7

Are you trying to say that the projector can't be any good because it only weighs 7.7 pounds? How do you feel about the Mits HC4000, which weighs in at 7.9 pounds? While I like my projectors to be built a lot heavier (my current projectors weigh 18lb, 20lb & 29lb), the HC4000 shows that a good entry level projector can be built at that weight.

That alibaba web site is the only site that has this projector listed as "LED 3D", if you look at the other sites that offer this projector there is no mention of 3D anywhere. If they were trying to market this as a 3D projector there would be much more information about this feature don't you think? This information is probably being translated from Chinese and the translator is obviously not doing a very good job. Thas is most likely a typo. Also, do you consider 7.7 pounds heavy or something?

I will get to the bottom of this, I'll find out the real deal quite soon.

ANY projector based on Luminus Phlatlight PT120 RGB LED is HEAVY. Because so much heat from LED's and in case of active cooling you have noise (>10db ?) With passive cooling you have less noise but more weigths.

I have the Runco Q-750i based on the delta / vivitek design. Mine weighs in at 54 pounds... although some of that is the "fancy" cast alum Runco design features. The lesne bez must weight 5 pounds by itself!

I kept my customs reciept on the bill it says weight 5kg (including box & packaging)

The CRE X1000 is about the same width as a regular Xbox 360 and just slightly taller by a few centimeters

Well, after reading these very elucidating postings by vsv, all i can say is that what Samsung achieved with the F10M pj must be a technological miracle; How else to explain a 3LCD/LED that uses a Luminus Devices PT-121 chipset, weights approximately 12 pounds, is about the same size as most pjs and lists for $1.200 !
Gee, how did Samsung engineers manage that ? I am astounded ! Gee.....

I've seen much worse performance from other 3-chip pjs, so that is very encouraging.
How well packaged is the unit in its shipping box ? When you opened it up did you feel that it offered as much protection as necessary, especially considering it was shipped from China (DHL ?)

VSV, those pictures are of a water cooled system, correct? I have to agree with you now that I think about it, the weight sounds a little light. Here are some pictures of heat pipes used for cpu cooling. I believe these are gonna be lighter than the system you mention though.

The Samsung SP-F10M is 4.8 Kg, so nothing wrong with the CRE spec. Watercooling would be a bit heavier than aircooling. Aircooling with heatpipes can be used with a fully closed lightpath, as demonstrated by the Samsung.

Yeh it comes well packaged, it got like most manufacturers those slidey off polystyrene things on each side moulded to the projector shape, came with thin bubble wrap under neath and ontop and a sheet of polysteny foam sheeting.

The box istelf is a typical standard cardboard box and had lots parts of it was mumified in brown packaging tape,
Whats more the CRE x1000 survived 2 delivery attempts by DHL..lol as the 1st time i was out.

Comes also with remote (no batteries) takes 2xAAA, 1 metre HDMI cable, & Power cord

The pics are from the Chill-in chasis that is used by Sim2's Mico line and the EE Tru Vue Vango from AVS.

The picture looks pretty good especially for the price. I am sure there are other ways make the projector cheap enough and light enough for this app. I just wonder what they did. I am not saying they could not or did not do it.

Yep, me to. Someone at work just yesterday told me that nothing I do is simple minded. I have to research every detail and tear it apart and assemble it before I am satisfied. It is hard to discuss any of these topics with my employees though, they just can't comprehend how I have a 100 inch screen.

I know if I had one of these projectors I would have already opened it up. I would not completely take it apart, but I just want a peek inside the CRE X1000.

I been riding this pj pretty tough its put in lots of hours already, and if a compant goes/blows breaksdown i wanna be able to return it as it has a 2 year manufacturers guarantee..

Yep i think inadvertantly i may have let down the projector by being a smoker.
I`m seeing some blurry patches of yellow appearing on my screen, the areas and text in this area are not as sharp as the other areas.
I`m convinced it wasnt the projectors fault as the yellowy bits are on my side of the screen where i sit underneath the projector, yeh i`m an idiot i was chain smoking my evenings away & didnt have a clue the LED/LCD compartment must not be enclosed.
I`ve written a letter to hans i have no idea what hes gonna say.. the manual mentions nothing about smoke free environment.

I don't smoke cigarettes so i have no idea if that could happen by chain smoking underneath a projector; You must have been sitting right under the air intake vents and smoking an awful lot of cigarettes in succession, i'd imagine !
Would that indicate that the LCDs digital path of the CRE X1000 is not fully enclosed and protected from dust contaminants ? Or can cigarette smoke penetrate even such barrier ?

Only high end and very new mid level projectors have fully inclosed LCD light paths. Also most single DLP with color wheel light paths are NOT completely closed off.

Best bet is to return and ask for a new one. Up to you what you tell them, but if they stick to the warranty smoking is NOT covered and really does not need to be listed on the package.

We used to have an HC3000u in our garage that was routinely chain smoked under for about 2 years strait. Including 100 degree days in the summer(no ac in garage) and nights in the winter where we had to leave the door closed and you could barely see the screen. Smoking shouldn't effect a well designed projector in to awful of a way.

That is too bad. I don't allow anyone to smoke around my projector for just that reason. Smoking and projectors just don't mix well. I doubt they will fix it under warranty now, but who knows, you may get lucky.

Could be a dust blob?

Is there a tamper seal on the projector? Like the ones that tear once you open it?

Purple spots usually indicate dust. Yellow spots usually indicate a blue screen LCD panel and Polarizer that's on the way out and is getting burned.
The quick way to tell if its dust is to unfocus the lens in both directions and see if you have little purple dots. If I were you I would shut down the unit and let it cool for a half hour or until it is cool to the touch. If you leave it on and the Blue screen is getting hammered with UV light that could be causeing your problem and it will only get worse. This is one of the concerns that I have had from the get go with this unit especially if all three Panels are seeing the same light output. The blue screen will always be the first to fail

These LEDs do not produce infrared nor ultraviolet light. Instead they produce heat that is transferred to a heat-sink.

If there are LCD Panels then the light is shot through them. The ultaviolet is what kills the blue panels in partickluar. Yellow spots on the screen usually indicates a blue panel breakdown somewhere in the chain. If there are no Polarizers in this projector. My guess is the panel is breaking down. I hope sellmejunk post a picture of what the projector is showing now so we can see it.

What I'm saying is that the LED lights that are used don't put out any ultraviolet light to be filtered or to burn the LCD panel. I have been researching these lights and found a video of some engineers talking about these PT120 LEDs which confirmed my evaluation of the spec sheet.
