CRE X1000 Worlds First 3 LED 3 LCD 1080p Projector..Anybody heard of these guys? - Page 23

Have you calibrated the monitor you are viewing pictures that were taken at odd angles by an amateur using a camera of unknown quality depicting the images of an uncalibrated projector displaying a movie consisting of over-exaggerated colors?

Not really the most accurate representation of the actual image that SMJ is seeing in his theater.

I can tell it has some crushed blacks.

How can you tell?

Too much noise and brightness changes from the camera to tell anything from those screenshots. Even the shadow created by his arm doesn't look good and that isn't from the projector.

Thanks for taking the time to do what you can to help us see what this projector is capable off. Please don't let the 13-year-olds get you down.

Those pics are not bad, not bad at all. I'd guess that with a little tuning it could look pretty darn good perhaps!

In any case, I think smj you've done well to get this pj at the price you did, and I congratulate you for it and hope it meets your needs for many years to come.

very over saturated, but a nice crisp image. as you said a little tuning and it should be dialed in pretty well.

The cannon a470 did a much better job than that pentax, so gave it a another go. i can get some slightly better looking pictures, by turning down the exposure. That scene is too bright for the auto mode

I wont pay over £7.99 for a movie, when i could get more hours out of spartacus season 1 (13 episodes) for £22.00 new. It was either speed racer or teenage mutant ninja turtles(also £4.99) but speeds racer won out as TNMNT had 4.5 rating based on picture quality.

fair enough. I did say i`d do some galactica, but the 3.5 out of 5 for image quality would probably have people whining even more than you.

Ive got a load of dvd`s otherwise, but kinda pointless on 1080 (tho i havent tryed a dvd on the x1000 yet) dunno if my ati card would upscale it, that could be a possibilty..

The cannon does a better job than the pentax camera, tho still isnt perfect.
Bear in mind the black widescreen border to my eye is pitch black, but on the camera may appear alot lighter.

Your pictures are getting much better. I know your video sources are plugged direct into the projector and looking quite watchable.

I pass my output signal through a DVDO VP-50 video processor.

The DVDO is icing on the cake for videophile excellent picture quality.
I can't wait to see this projector with the DVDO.

Because of your posts I will probably order the CRE X1000 very soon!

I now have an Epson UB6500 that is really a terrific projector working just fine. I am thinking of putting it in the closet for an emergency spare backup and getting the CRE X1000.

With a good camera and somebody that was good at taking pictures, I bet the images would be really good. People trying to judge a projector based on pictures from a point and shoot are obviously making a snap judgment with regards to this projector. if it holds up, then it is a winner. Especially when you consider it's price point.

Yeh moms camera to the rescue..not bad, tho camera does react different to some scenes. Those pictures are set to varying exposure so the actual x1000 picture is alot brighter than the photos your seeing, its actually alot more luminecence. i have no trouble believing this could be 800 lumen. i can watch the picture fine with some ambient lighting .

American Ninja rocks! Yeh bluray is still pretty new, theres not a massive catalogue of old classics,
I dont know how it is in USA, but in UK DVD`s still outsell blurays by 74%

The hard thing is figuring out which Dvd`s to rebuy on bluray & if those titles are available.
As for DVDO yes a few people have mentioned it, i`ll certainly add it to my wish list
I wonder is there a PC graphics card alternative with these DVDo features? as my bluray player is the PC.

ah yeh that blue writing i was a bit grumpy after the pentax pictures, to be fair to kthejoker20 he didnt wanna see any more speed racer, for some unknown personal reason. + i did say galactica was on the cards, but we were inbetween the comparsion from speed racer on the pentax vs cannon
The argument i had with my sister to borrow her new samsung, nearly led me to 1up her & spend bigbucks on the cannon powershot s95 After my own 8mb camera failed miserably and then the poor pentax images from my dads camera, was really annoying, Pentax i had thought was a great brand jeez!
Luckily my moms cannon a470 takes decent pictures, so has put me in a better mood

Well you can enjoy or keep those to yourself, much as I might like to view them. My point is that this just may be a great unit. I have a LED lit RP TV and it has lasted a loooooong time. No problems. It is of course DLP and yours is LCD. I have disassembled my TV and cleaned the interior out because there was picture degradation on the screen. Good as new after that. Most importantly is the dust I removed from the heat sinks which are very similar to the ones in your CRE unit. I expect another 3 years out of the unit at least. Now for the bad news, my light engine alone has 3 separate fans and puts out quite a bit of heat at the exhaust. Your unit appears to have one fan. Also for anyone wondering, my DLP TV has no colorwheel, duh, but just saying. I think this TV was way ahead of it's time and we may see this tech again in the front PJ market. I am watching it now as I type, It really is good tech and looks good. Does 3d checkerboard very well too. Give me a break. 3 Year old tech with no 3d ghosting or cross talk. Hard to do today. Come on man. Did I mention there is still some RBE in 3d? Curiously this is the only time I note it on this TV and you do not have to look hard but in 2d, forget about it. Whatever happened to checkerboard? It works really well.

Ah yeh that DLP rear screen is big so needs alot of air.The x1000 with one fan only puts out 28 degrees Celcius (from 6 inches away from exhaust). .
Thats intresting about DLP TV, one of those little known hidden gem techs. Sounds like it has lasted you a long time, how many hours does that DLP bulb give you i wonder?
I was offered a rear projection TV very cheap about 7 years ago, but didnt have the space for it at the time, probably wasnt DLP but looked awesome so understand the appeal..
I guess most people just know CRT,LCD, LED & plasma. I had heard plasma to give the best picture, but wouldnt get one as they suck up alot electricity.
On the luminus site, they state the pT-120 to be suitable for combination LCD, and with DLP.
Its very possible someone will do this and make a LED DLP! projector, lol wonder if its possible to have a LED/DLP/LCD all in one projector!

there are lots of led dlp PJs ,there are around the same number of lcd(bulbed) 1080p pjs as there are led dlp 1080p projectors-there are tons of pico and pocket dlp led pj,s
and I have one.There are a handfull of lcos led pjs and i have one of those also.

1080p DLP LED projectors have been available for close to a year now. Why would anyone put DLP and LCD in the same projector? That doesn't even make any sense.
