Panasonic ST30 and GT30 pre-order and information thread [No Price Talk] - Page 2

Yes,, I recently purchased the 65" S2 (great TV) but I have a friend that wants to buy it if I decide to sell it to get the ST30 but I have to decide sooner than later as the buyer might not wait much longer.

I still have my 55" LED Vizio as a back-up if needed.

One other idea Im considering,, keeping the S2 and getting a passive 3D LG or Vizio,,, while at CES I found I like passive 3D more than active.

But to be fair I did not check out Panasonic's "claimed" improvment with their active 3D,,, Im kicking myself in the ass for that one,,,,I really should have took the time to check out the 3D on the new Pannys.

One of the main reasons Im interested in the ST30 is I want a 3D panel in the house, I hate to buy a passive panel just for the 3D but thats what it might come down too.

There are some other considerations as well, but thats the short version.

Actually I've seen more than a few postings on AVS from other members that liked passive more than active.

As far as 540p on passive, thats a strongly debated subject, it can also be said that with active your still not getting full HD as each eye is only seeing half the image at a time, but all that is being talked about on the 3D threads here and I dont want to see this thread get derailed so I will shut my pie-hole about passive vs active.

Anyhow, while I do like passive better I am not against buying an active 3D panel, hence my interest in the ST30.

I also have not seen passive yet in person either but so far i do like the pannys 3dwith the active shutter. and they say the 3d is a lot better on the new pannys.so i think we are in for a treat

Looks like the only real difference between th G and the S is the absence of THX on the S. Likewise, looks like the only real difference between the V and the G (apart from aesthetics of the housing and whether a pair of glasses is included or not) is an additional filter that results in the addition of "pro" to the Infinite Black nomenclature. Does this mean that the phosphors are equally the same on all three series? Since it looks like Best Buy may not be getting the VT30 series (and for me that is currently the only viable source due to shipping issues) I'm really hoping that the difference in picture quality between the VT30 and GT series is minimal.

On the GT30 specs, it shows that 3D glasses are included.

That is what I inititially thought too, but maybe it is simply semantics since adding the additional or different filter would of and in itself constitute a "different panel?" Of greater concern to me is whether there is any difference in the phosphors as it had been contended there was between the VT25 and G series last year. I see the specs for all three 2011 series talk about brighter display and longer retention which I'm hoping means the purported 30% increase in brightness and the improved black level issues are the same across the board for all three series.

I noticed that, plus the fact that the Wireless LAN Adaptor is included for both the G and VT30 series. (Maybe the S too, but I didn't check,) Since the pre-order site is offering a "free" wireless LAN Adaptor does that mean you end up getting two?

Is the 50GT30 really worth almost 2x the price of the GT25? There's another thread about the 50GT25 available from Fry's at about half the price.

I'd guess not but you never know for sure. We need to wait for reviews/impressions to get a definitive answer.

What is the list price for the 50GT30?

Some vendors are blowing out the remaining GT25 models at rediculously low prices.

Wow. Prices are better than I thought they would be. I would think the 65" GT30 would dip at/just below $2000 by fall of this year. That is exciting!

The S1 50" MSRP was the same as the ST-30 of the same size. That may hit $899-$999 by this fall. Pretty good for a nice 3D plasma.

BUT AS OF NOW NO 3D glasses are included with this tv i called up the place
and the lady said that the gt30 dont come with the 3D glasses. but this might change she said

Any chance you could PM me as well on those? Passed up the 2010 models so need to upgrade, 50" just doesn't cut it anymore.

At this point, might be best to see a post with these preorder prices(probably the same or near MSRP anyway). All these posts asking for PMs arent contributing anything to the thread.
