Hello,
I'm looking for a source in the Colorado Springs (preferred) or Denver area for OC 703 or similar.

I can special order thru Home Depot but would have to buy 60 sheets, nearly double what I need.

Any help?

Thanks

Try your local John's Manville dealer (google for the JM website). They have a product that is identical to OC703 that most dealers will order for you by the individual piece.

Thanks. That would be Lowes. I tried calling and asking about JM 814, but it was like talking to a shrubbery. I guess I'll have to make the drive.

Please post if you find a local dealer. I am in Denver (Aurora) and would love to find this locally. Thanks.

Look at the commercial building supply dealers for JM not the big boxes.

Might give these guys a call (they have a Denver location):

Yes, look at the Commercial selection. There is a place in Pueblo and 2 in Denver.

Brian Pape will also ship it to you. www.sensiblesoundsolutions.com

Metropolitan Insulation Supply in Denver can get OC 703, just called them. Price for 12 sheets is about 160.00 plus tax. Do a Google search(type Metro Insulation) for the address and phone number, should be the first one that pops up.

jbichsel, if you decide to order and ship in, I highly recommend ATS Acoustics Rigid Fiberglass Board from atsacoustics.com

Same basic stuff, cheaper and excellent customer service from ATS. Recommend you call them and mention you heard of them on avsforum. They discounted their website price!

If you find a relatively local source let me know. I'm building my theater in Colorado Springs as well. Or we could even do a group buy and split it if needed.

Thanks,
Todd

Give these guys a try to see if they carry OC703, it is a branch of SPI.

You might also try local HVAC shops. I went to the company that installed the HVAC in my house and asked them if they had 1" fiberglass duct liner. He took me into the shop and he had 5-6 rolls of Knauf. I had studied the chart at Bob Golds' site and knew this was an acceptable product. Might have paid more, but I was able to take it home right then. There were also a couple of HVAC supply shops in the area, but I wasn't sure about the performance of the fiberglass they carried. The main thing is, ask for "duct liner" and if they have it, ask the brand. Don't get stuck on a specific brand.

Thanks guys.
Looking at some of the local prices, it appears that it will be less expensive to order it from ATS and pay the shipping. Even with the shipping charges it's less expensive.

I'm looking at covering all walls and ceiling with the ATS Acoustic Rigid Fiberglass Board.

Unfortunately, it is a irregular shaped room with sliding glass door and window on the south wall, so tons of light comes in there.

I'm planning on making panels to 1) Insert into the window, 2) removeable panels to cover the sliding glass door.

Is this overkill?

Not at all. I am actually drywalling over the windows in my theater. Panels seems much less overkill. If you plan to use your theater during the day you will want to control the light.

Right, but 36 sheets of rigid board then needs about 110 yards of fabric. GoM is expensive.

Anyone have other fabric suggestions that won't break the bank?

We've already gone over budget due to finding code violations inside the ceiling once I tore down the existing drywall.
