I am also faced with a decision between the Anthem MRX-500 and the Integra DTR 40.2. I would be curious to hear from others which model is the more preferred. I have two Def Tech Mythos Four towers, two Mythos Gem surrounds, Mythos Three center channel and a SuperCube I, Samsung 61" DLP 1080p HiDef TV, XBox 360 and an Onkyo DVD/SACD player. I will also be looking to include a new BluRay player in the near future, as well.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Check out the MRX thread for owner impressions of their MRX 500. I own one and all I can say is they have out of their class amplification and the incomparable ARC which will make your speakers and sub sound their best in your room. Now I must warn you, I have been called the biggest Anthem cheerleader on the AVS by someone who is an Audyssey cheerleader I think you should try one in your room after an ARC measurement, not in the store which will have diff room properties and a diff ARC solution.

I'm also facing this choice! I have the RF-63 system from Klipsch and I have had an anthem D2 before and loved it. The receiver isn't thx certified and I know that it doesnt matter that much but their other gear is...

Does anyone know what the video processor is in the mrx series?

Im considering another d2, onkyo 5008 or pioneer SC-37. Any ideas??

Checkout hometheater.com for a review of the MRX 700. A lot of the review applies to the 500 as well.

I asserted that you are an ARC cheerleader. And you are. In fact, you are a Sonic Frontiers cheerleader. Just look at your narrowly focused posting history. Do you have the knowledge to comment on anything not ARC, Anthem, or Paradigm? Seriously, you look like someone on the Sonic Frontiers payroll.

Try again. I am not an Audyssey cheerleader. I do not have a dog in the fight, so to speak, as I use a Lexicon pre/pro. In the interest of full disclosure, though, I do use Anthem amplification.

So, jayray, your fanboy opinion that ARC is "incomparable" is hardly established fact. And others who may read your posts should be made aware of your extreme partiality, if not corporate loyalty.

My experience with non ARC issues is quite vast but I don't feel the need to justify any of my posts to you. Just google ARC reviews and do your own comparative tests and stop stalking me

Nothing wrong with giving your opinion on something you like. I do the same with Integra. Are you happy?? Great! Am I happy? Yup! 2 happy people that like their brands. I was also looking at the Anthem 700 but I'm intrigued by the internet radio on the Integras.

There are some recent reviews you might be interested in on the MRXs. Can't remember the links but googling will find them.

I am on the fence about the Anthem 700 or the Onkyo 5008. My Paradigm dealer says that a allot of his installs of the anthem sounds better than the other receivers pushing 140 watts. The only thing that I don't like about the Anthem is it only has 4 HDMI inputs and I don't do switches. For the price of the Anthem
It should have more HDMI inputs. It is a quality sounding amp I have heard it in a demo room, but demo rooms are built for a reason "to sound good".

Can't remember how to post a link but Hometheatermag.com did a review of the Anthem 700, and one is supposed to be up soon on the Integra 50.2. I bought the Integra 40.2 and received a free one year sub to Sirius Internet Radio, plus hundreds of internet radio channels via V-Tuner internet radio and Pandora, just to name a few.

The review says that "...will play loud and clean in rooms of up to 2000 cubic feet at viewing distances of 10-12 feet....". I'm wondering if this is accurate. My Son is thinking of purchasing the DTR-50.2, and I believe his listening room is closer to 2400 CF. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I know this reply is a bit late in the game, but I switched from an Integra DTR-40.3 to an Anthem MRX-500. The Anthem sounded that much better out of the box, never mind after I ran ARC. I was blown away....smile.gif
