Help with speaker selection and positioning (diagrams included)

So my little man is really moving around and using things to pull himself up, banging toys on the wall, etc.... so all suggestions should bear this in mind.

My drawings include the speakers that I have not yet installed, everything else is set in stone. All speakers will be angled to provide direct "sweet spot" coverage at "head height" when seated in the primary viewing area.

This is the living room and primary living space (our house is very small) so everything has to be aesthetically pleasing and match my current scheme. (this will appease the wifey). The Flooring is carpet except for the area from the Garage door across the Front door where it is currently linoleum. Carpeting starts at the closet and travels throughout the room until you get to the kitchen (more linoleum) the carpet then continues down the hall.

I've got a media closet in the hallway where I've landed all my gear, there are no wires visible/accessible anywhere in the viewing area. (I installed electrical outlets behind the TV and a dual gang access space to the low voltage wiring [2 Coax, 1 Cat6E, 1x HDMI from HDMI switch in Media closet, 3 sets of speaker wire (L,C,R)] in the wall.

So anyway, I need suggestions on speakers that will perform well in the oddly shaped room (Primary viewing area is approximately 14x18 but I don't have the exact measurements with me at the moment). The drawings aren't exactly to scale but they give a nearly accurate representation of the proportion of the room.

Things I'm looking to buy immediately would be FR, FL, C which would allow me to rotate my current Kenwood fronts to the "RR/RL" position. I'm looking to also pick up a Subwoofer within the next month and then finalize the rear surrounds within a month from there.

The goal of this build is to provide a 5-6 year family friendly solution for 85% TV/Movies watching and 15% music listening usage. At that point the wife and I will be building a new house where I've already been given license to install a true home theater without taking "toddler friendly" themes into consideration.

I'm looking to spend somewhere in the range of 500-750$ for a FL/C/FR solution, 200-400$ for a subwoofer and 100-300$ for rear surrounds.

Also I'm interested in whether or not adding a set of speakers midway between the TV wall and the primary viewing area (I had envisioned 1 additional speaker being mounted over the Sofa at the edge of the closet wall and another additional speaker being mounted directly to the right of that speaker that would line up with the Right Rear surround speaker).

I'm also looking for a good AVR (My current HK has no HDMI in/out I'm using a separate HDMI splitter) that will upconvert analog inputs (Component, Composite) as well as combine 5x HDMI's into 1 3D ready output but that kind of belongs in another subforum.

Anyway, here's the layout of the room I'm dealing with. I really appreciate any and all suggestions!

If you want bookshelf speakers for the main, then maybe this combination:

P162's for main and surround.

PC350/PC351 for center.

An F-12 for a sub.

That would all fit your budget pretty nicely. In fact, the FL/C/FR would be below the low end of your budget.

So getting a better sub might be doable.

This is just one person's opinion.

Ok well I went to BB today and auditioned some two sets of DefTech speakers(1 bookshelf, 1 wallmountable), one set of Martin Logan wallmountable speakers and a set of Mirage OS Sat speakers.

I also listened to the B&W Bookshelf speakers and really liked them but I don't think I'm quite ready to drop 1k$ on Fronts.

I think I've decided to go with the DefTech Pro Monitor 1000's for Front Left, Center and Front Right.

If I were up for spending 1k on just a pair of speakers I would have probably gone with the B&W's but I figure these DefTechs will make nice surrounds when I upgrade the fronts.

I also liked the Denon 3311 quite a bit. Not only did it push the speakers QUITE nicely, the video processing would make it so I can replace my HDMI switch and run all my component video devices (Xbox360, Wii, Camcorder) upscaled through the AVR.

Also liked the DefTech 1000 subwoofer as well (300w10" powered sub).

Anyone have any "Must compare to" brands of speakers? I'd really like to keep the AVR/FL/C/FR/SW under 2000$ but from what I saw today I'm looking at 2300$ out the door.

Any big box stores have these on display where a guy could go audition them? I don't recall seeing infinity speakers @ BB.
